We blew it with the derby and the late goal against United. This was our chance to push on with the leagues top scorer and no European games , hell not even domestic cup games, but we weren't good enough when it really mattered. This summer will be huge if we are too compete anytime soon.

Not this season barring some sort of fluke. However next season we could be much closer just need the right signings and it will be on. Rom and Ross staying is important getting a new back 4 and some back up in attack and we can do it.

That and our period of awful form before Christmas. Left too much of a gap.

Yes, as painful as the defeat to the RS and the last minute equaliser v Man U where, home draws to Palace and Swansea and away defeats to Watford, Bournemouth, Burnley and Southampton killed us during that wretched autumn period.

Even collecting half the points on offer in those fixtures would see us on 62 points in 4th.

It shows though how close we are. That dodgy period came during a time when Koeman was assessing the squad.
Since then we have seen the addition of Schniederlin and the emergence of Davies.

Next season we need to try and keep hold of Barkley/Lukaku and build a bit more, improving Away form and winning a the sides above us.
We can certainly be in the mix then.
