By happenstance Liverpol did yes.

Thinking cap on mate, because it's you who needs to do better.
In 2014/15 Liverpool were well in the hunt for a CL place until the last 7/8 matches (5th, just 4 points off City who were in 4th). Then City extended their lead to 7 points and Liverpool after that got 5 points out of their last possible 18 and finished
Ironically, Arsenal went on to win the FA Cup and so the extra place was Liverpool's.
They defo pulled the plug on that season.
Anyway, I know your game mate. If we end up getting sixth place then you'll be able to deflect any praise from us by saying some other team just didn't want to qualify for the Europa
lol lol lol
Brilliant work

It's a poison chalice mate. For a United or Liverpool who aren't guaranteed a CL spot the best way to start any PL campaign is to avoid having to sip from that chalice. Sometimes they can't avoid it if they win a cup and don't get top four.lollollollol

The players they've played though. If they get to the latter stages - and their miles off - I'm sure most of the first teamers will startUnited have a good chance of winning the EL. Strange that they've taken it so seriously since they actively sought to avoid qualifying for it?

Dear me, did you actually read the contents of my reply to you?Err, Liverpool finished sixth in 2014/15 David, and qualified for the Europa League. If they "pulled the plug" to avoid qualifying for the Europa League then they made an almighty hash of it !

Liverpool did that last season. Gambled on EL and played a lot of second string teams in the premier league run in. I bet they regret doing that now as they lost the final, finished just 6 points off a champions league place, and ended up with nothing. The players they've played though. One things for sure: they'll have a far stronger squad to deal with that competition + our domestic programme.Think I read that ibra for example started 4 group games. They've played fairly strong throughout
Good point. In that way also it can give a real headache to teams not equipped to take on the massive workload.Liverpool did that last season. Fair enough mate, but if we are in it next season I wouldn't fancy our chances to put in a CL spot challenging year...and that IS what our priority has to be.Yep you're right on that. But I'm fairly certain we'd add suitable numbers if we qualified. The EL group stage is about managing your squad. Target your homes and wholesale changes away. It's not ideal but I prefer we were in it and it's the natural progression as a club for us to get back there.
