Top Four Possibility

This is going to sound crazy - and I never thought I'd hear myself say it - but it feels like Liverpool haven;t invested enough here with Klopp.

I think the plan was to get that stand paid for and hope Klopp's 'genius' would see them over the line of a CL spot then they could hand him some serious cash this summer to get real quality in.

I was made up when FSG bought Liverpool and not an oligarch. This is why.

Klopp has always operated with a small squad of players he uses mate, its the only way he can do that system and he drills them into the ground to learn it and it wont work without that small unit, but in this league with no break - you just cant use such a small squad when your playing at those levels of workrate

FSG are business first, business second, sport someway down in 20th mate

As for not investing - honestly think he's one of those that thinks he can take a turd and polish it into a gem, they raved about coutinho being finally consistant etc this seaosn, yeah because klopp demanded he run himself into the ground everygame, he ended up breaking due to it, and now looks back to the same old 1 in 4 games player he always was. same for firminho, lallana and others as well, they lauded matip as the best cb in the league, ignoring the fact he's had a rep as a bit of a sturridge with injuries for a whilst in germany and thats why they got him on a free, low and behld - how many different injuries has he had already ...

It's easy to compete in germany when your manager of by a massive way the second best club, its like lauding someone for managing barca when madrid was dominant and they came back

Probably right. I actually find myself sympathetic to that mentality. I like that someone sees the challenge in going with few rather than lots and that they'll shape their philosophy/method to make that a success. But as you say, the Bundesliga is the Bundesliga and the PL is the PL. It isn't the place for paring down and going about a campaign with a Spartan few.

It;s fascinating what happens over there now...from an organisational pov, that is.

It's why pocchetino us imo a better manager, he realised the workrate at the level he first tried was unsustainable and modified it, including regularly rotating as a pair his fullbacks at there key to everything they do, then added another cm in wanyama and sissoko to allow the to keep there intensity up till the end of the season

I was listening to talk sport a few weeks back and they were talking about best deals done in the summer for value. Gueye is mentioned a couple of times and Alvin Martin I think it was ( whoever use dot play for West ham but loves the RS ) pipes up with "well I think Matip was the signing of the summer tbh". This was during one of his injury lay offs and I proper lol at another typical RS tit always trying to make themselves relevant in some way.

Yup it's always the same with them mate.

Signing of the summer for me would be kante or luiz

Kopites get a 2-3 week break after Spurs game which tbf will probably see the players recharged. Thankfully I hope it's too little to late and they miss out on the CL. For us we just need to finish 7th and hope Utd win the League Cup and one of the top 5 win the FA Cup and we atleast have a europa league tour to look forward too next season.

Our next 5 games are KEY:

we had 4 winnables ( Boro, Sunderland, West Brom and Hull)

Lvpool has Spurs, Arsenal and Man City

Arsenal has CL

We have to take advantage of these games to reach the derby and Old Trafford on a good stretch and close to the CL spot

top 6 is deffo on.

all the teams above us aside from rs have European football starting again soon. (well Chelsea too but they are long gone) One or more will slip up. We just need to keep picking up three points.

We average two points a match from here til the end of the season, we end on 68 pts. Should be more than enough for Europe.

It's in our hands.

I personally think 5th would be an achievement. If we were somehow able to get 4th, I think that would be a miracle.

By the way, if ANY of you, in your looking at the rest of the games, have us beating Liverpool at Anfield, I'd have thought you'd have learned by now.

It's fairly simple - you want anyone and everyone above us to lose.

It doesn't matter though, as top four is still not on. As Brennan said earlier, it's a mentality issue - not from the fans as such, but from the squad. You just have to look one result back to Stoke to see the issue.

Or the performance against Palace. Sure we got the result in the last five minutes but we were poor for large stretches that match. We don't run over the lower table clubs and we'll drop one or two games to a few bottom ten teams when it's all said and done.
