Top Four Possibility

That's nonsense, particularly the comment about 6th when we're only five points off.

The top 6 have been more consistent than us over 23 games. What's makes everyone think we're gonna be considerably more consistent than them over the next 15. I'd say it's highly likely well finish further away from 4th than we currently sit.

6th is the best we can hope for and it's very much an outside chance.

Same could have been said about United drawing there last week though mate and there top 4 chances.
Yes, defo. But our only concern is Everton and results like last night are acceptable but not enough to get the job done as we have in the past.

Thing is mate, until last night Holgate had shown no problem when dealing with better players so to naysay after the event is a bit snide, because against arsenal and city he was superb against players with a lot more cannyness and athleticism than aunautovic
Yes, but in those games we were playing a lot like a five at the back with little or no chance of being targeted by a ball knocked in behind the full backs to be exploited. Stoke was different.

Keep United well within range for our trip there, they're going to drops points between now and then. We have a good run coming here where we should be expecting to win the majority, if not all of the games.

Top 4? Probably not. Top 5? Why not.

The Manchester Derby had been postponed due to the cup final as well so we have a chance to close and put pressure on that weekend, said beforehand just aim to close with the one above us and we do that could end up hauling down others - Chelsea beat arsenal they basically have itdl sown up and be interesting how it effects the thers behind them

United have City after this weekend, so there a chance to catch again. United have a 36 year old leading the line with a 35 year old to replace him.

Just keep as close as we can to them and we're golden.

they don't mate, it WAS scheduled for the same weekend we play sunderland at home, but united are in the cup final that day, the redone date hasnt been announced yet

I don't see anything different in this season so far to suggest we are suddenly going to win games when there's a gap to be closed or a real chance of catching the top 4.

Hopefully it will be different in the near future but I'd be more inclined to expect a low points total in this run up to the Spurs game.

Looking at the schedule I could see the boys potentially finishing with 67 points which would likely translate to 5th with Chelsea looking like they are running away with it this year. I think this is a realistic goal.

To this stage we have been averaging 1.6 points a match. To manage 67 we would need to maintain 2pts a match form for the remainder. (for perspective City & RS have done this over the course of the first 23 matches)

As far as Top 4 goes; averaging greater than 2pts a match is possible (Spurs, Arsenal & Chelsea have done so over the first 23), but I think it is highly unlikely.

So the question is, can Everton show that they have the mettle to average 2pts over 15 matches? Or in other words, Can Everton perform as a top 5 team to close out this season?

I am going to be optimistic that the lads can get it done; but even if they fall a bit short, this first season under Koeman looks to be moving the club in the right direction and that is encouraging.
