Aye but I get the feeling it's another Darren bent type situation with fletcher - get the feeling that despite doing well in the prem he's only played for burnley, wolves and Sunderland, bent had 2 seasons at spurs but they were the only 2 seasons since 05/06 that they finished outside the top 5, so there's a good reason why none of last seasons top 7 tried to sign him when he was available for a decent fee

Bent still finished their top goalscorer one season, just coming off the bench.

The reason why the top clubs never went for him was that they could buy better for the same or more money.

In our case, we don't have the money so we'll never get an all round striker. Unless Martinez gets lucky and bags a Michu type.

Really love the reaction from Colbacks equalizer. Can really feel the wrath of the Cardiff fans and the misery by the Cardiff players.
Sunderland players and fans explode in happiness.

Jozy Altidore even pre-celebrated, what a tool lol.

Think the summer bent went to spurs he cost a bit less than Torres, but did find it a bit odd that charlton were able to get him for £3m. Then again he cost more for villa than suarez cost (granted suarez would have been highly unlikely to go to villa)

Suppose fletcher could go to a bigger club and do a Diego milito

if i remember right last year we shut up shop at Norwich at 0-1 and they ended up winning 2-1.

Well, yes, but my point was that he probably just changed personnel. With Wellbeck taking up the lone striker role as opposed to Hernandez. So technically it's not really a case of "Fletcher on Hernandez off" and all of what that implies....

Supremely naive to believe United aren't capable of getting right in the mix of the top four.

I doubt there's too many other people who feel that way now. They will get a top four slot almost guaranteed, I'd say. They have van Persie to come back and have a January transfer window where Moyes can make up for the disastrous summer he had.

I'm staggered you dont think United will be top four come the end of the season. Staggered.

I don't think they'll stay midtable but recent results have papered over the cracks. Rooney is their only spark.

Rooney has 9 goals and 11 assists (according to Transfermakt).
Van Persie has 7 goals and 2 assists.
Welbeck has 5 goals and 3 assists.
Januzaj has 3 goals and 2 assists.

Assists: Young 2, Valencia 2, Giggs 1, Nani 1, Hernandez 1, Rafael 0, Carrick 0, Cleverley 0, Fellaini 0, Kagawa 0

Rooney supposedly asked for Ozil and was told by Moyes that he wasn't needed.

Koke has 3 goals and 9 assists for Atletico but he's only 21 and he could take time to adjust.
Herrera has 0 goals and 0 assists for Bilbao.

They need someone to make things happen in the midfield but would Moyes play an attacking midfielder as well as Rooney and Van Persie?

I can see them being frustrated in the January transfer window too. Players' prices will be inflated and Woodward likes to try and drive a hard bargain, so I can't see them getting the quality they need at a price they're happy to pay.

I think they'll be very, very fortunate if they make the top four this season.

They wont stand still in the window. You can bet they'll have irons in the fire and that the gormless Moyes wont be allowed to dither again.

You say they'll be 'fortunate' to make top four...they're two points off it now with half a season to go and having just come through a nightmare period when they've pegged back about an 8 points deficit in a month.
