They wont stand still in the window. You can bet they'll have irons in the fire and that the gormless Moyes wont be allowed to dither again.

You say they'll be 'fortunate' to make top four...they're two points off it now with half a season to go and having just come through a nightmare period when they've pegged back about an 8 points deficit in a month.

Koke's release clause is reportedly £50m. They might be able to get him for something like £30m but will he be allowed to spend that much on a 21 year old?

The Mirror reckons Lallana is worth £15m but Southampton have no need to sell. They spent £13.2m on Osvaldo and £12.7m on Wanyama, so I can't see them selling their captain and brightest prospect for a similar sum. He has 4 goals and 5 assists, so he could be a decent signing but they'll have to pay a premium for him and he's obviously not at the same level as Ozil, Cazorla, Hazard or Silva.

They're currently 2 points off Liverpool, who have a game in hand. If the RS avoid defeat tomorrow the gap will open by another point. Chelsea could extend the advantage when United go to Stamford Bridge in a couple of weeks.

In the form table (last 6 league games) United have picked up 12 points. That's 1 less than us, Chelsea and Newcastle and 4 points less than City. It's the same as Liverpool and only 1 more than Arsenal and Spurs.

Statistics:

last 10 games

City 25 points
United 20 points
Arsenal 20 points
Chelsea 20 points
Liverpool 19 points
Everton 19 points

Transfer wise I dont know who'll they'll get. Maybe go back for Herrera. But they'll land some players to allow them to maintain momentum and a challenge. Money will be found because CL qualification HAS to be secured.

So they haven't pegged back 8 points then.

I do think that they're going to have to buy but I don't think they're going to find the transfer market any easier during January. They're probably going to have to spend big money to attract someone who will improve their fortunes. I'm not sure the Glazers really want to do that though and they might lower their sights to what they can actually afford.

BOOM.

8th December United trailed league leaders Arsenal by 13 points...today they trail them by 5 points.

Ha Ha. Yeah, Boom indeed.

That's because arsenal have played the likes of city and Chelsea whereas man united have had 4 easy fixtures (and played a game more) and been very very lucky in their last 2 games.

Their record against the other top 9 teams is 1 win, 3 draws and 4 defeats, plus they've got in mid feb/march arsenal away, palace away (deffo a tricky one now for anyone), city at home and liverpool away, going off their form against the better teams they'll do well to get more than 6 points from those. At best they'll be 5th this season IMO, if Rvp and Rooney continue getting muscle injuries could see them dropping to 7th in all honesty

What does that matter? We're talking about a gap being made up that was there in the first place partly because United played those tougher fixtures earlier in the season.

An 8 point gap was there...now it's not there anymore.

Perhaps billicopper can explain this after doubting that the reduction actually happened?

Maybe not.

They're going to finish above you aren't they. That whole thread you've got dedicated to laughing at Moyes on RAWK and he's going to finish above you yet again. How stupid are you all going to look at the end of the season! You could always blame it on the Yanks that left 4 years ago. Dem der Yanks devistated Liberpool.

Let it go lad. Let it go.

They've already played liverpool away. Whichever way you look at it 5 wins on the trot is a good run. With two home games against out of sorts Spurs and a faltering Swansea it could conceivably be 7 from 7.

Also if you look at their last 5 fixtures, none of the other challengers got 15 points from those fixtures - Liverpool lost at hull, City lost at Villa, Arsenal lost at home to villa, Chelsea lost to Stoke, Everton drew with Norwich etc.

I know it's fashionable to knock Moyes but it's already making people look silly, it's only going to look sillier imo.
