Time to get behind them

Totally agree.

The atmosphere at Goodison has been toxic for literally years and it's already forced out the likes of John Stones etc.
I agree it's been toxic for years mate but let's be honest here. The atmosphere had nothing to do with John Stones and his decision to leave for Man City. We could of had the greatest and most supportive atmosphere in the world and he'd still of left when he did. Maybe we'd of got another season out of him but I doubt it and perhaps he'd of left waxing lyrics about the club and our fans but does that really matter? I'm sorry to say it but we ever were to Stones and Lukaku was a stepping stone and there decision to leave had zero to do with the fans.

We are rubbish. Probably the worst we have been in a long, long time. But if the atmosphere turns toxic on Sunday things will only get worse. I've posted on here in the past, and I truly believe this the ONLY reason we survived in the 90's and the 'Smith years' was the support of the fans . We rarely turned on the team even during horrific days and I believe it is that support that saved us in days gone by. If we turn toxic like Newcastle and Leeds or lethargic like Villa and Sunderland in their relegation years we are in big trouble. Teams are now looking at us as a soft touch turning on the team will only help them especially at Goodison, so however hard it is, the team and us ourselves need each other, boos, doom and gloom will only make thigs worse. Anyone who was there at the Wimbledon game will know we cannot get in that situation again. Write off what we hoped for this year and get behind them the alternative doesn't bare thinking about.

Great post.

Problem is the younger generations live in a world where they expect to be given everything while making little to no effort themselves. I wouldn't hold your breath on the fans getting behind the team.

It was a lot better for an hour on Thursday. Not good enough still but better . Leaked the goal and fell apart - that is just lack of confidence .... for me there does not seem to be any team spirit and I suspect there are factions and divides in the dressing room .A new manager from the outside is needed to come in and unite everybody again as a team ...I think Koemans methods have caused these divides in the camp . we need to pick our best back 4 and play it every week and try to get some stability ..williams must be dropped ! If we can just get a win under our belts I think this will also boost the whole squad and start our season ... the support on Thursday was great again and we are all fully behind Everton but are all frustrated at the football and lack of idea / direction on the pitch. Things will improve soon !

Time for the dogs of war approach to protect our creeking backline and help us put a couple of points on the board. I would go with Besic, Beni & Gueye screening.

I still recall the nineties with utter dread. I seriously think they made me ill! Constantly worried about the love of my life. What happened in the groung then was booing and disenchantment UNTIL the fans realised we were in the crap. Then we got behind them thru our desperation. That was late into the season. Why wait till then. We MUST get behind them NOW for our sake as much as theirs. I couldnt care less what they earn. They are playing crap but i do see the effort. I believe each of the last 3 games has seen some improvement which wasnt hard ! There is no excuse for any true Evertonian to leave that ground tomorrow not having given his all to support the team. Even if we get beaten they must not be afaid to play at Goodison in the future. We must do our part. We can make a difference even if its influencing the ref. Stand up tomorrow for YOUR club. If i dont leave that ground hoarse i have failed. COYB

Was looking at a few games from our crap era on youtube and the ground did look so much more animated. I guess that's down to the fact we were awful and the fans felt like the players needed every bit of help they could get.

This bunch of mercenaries are a complete joke. I do question their passion and commitment to the cause. I can understand why there's a sense apathy from the fans. No doubt if there was a relegation battle the atmosphere at Goodison would be bouncing but that's down to the fact we love this club; not the players who happen to wear the blue shirt right now.

This. The mid-to-late 90's team we knew were a very average set of players, with one or two exceptions, but they earned the "Dogs of War" moniker because for the most part we could see they were leaving nothing on the pitch. The current side has extremely talented individual players, but many of whom appear to be just going through the motions.

It won't take much to get the bear-pit of Goodison going - hard running at defenders, a crunching tackle a la Phil Neville on Ronaldo in 2008, a moment which helped turn that season around after a poor start. So yes the fans at Goodison do need to really get behind the players, but the team needs to do their part too. Give us something to get fired up.

Yip.

This is no time for toxic atmospheres.

Save that for when we have climbed to mid table security.

These next few home games, we need to invoke the spirit of Wimbledon.....we need to be the twelfth man.

Performance doesn’t matter tomorrow....only the result does.

Yay to that

Confidence is on the floor. We need a win so bad, it's like we've been wandering around a desert for weeks on end, and now the food and water is running out.We give praise when it's merited, and we criticise when it's merited, but Goodison needs to be a cauldron of noise later on.This club is on the floor. We need to do everything we can, to get it back on it's feet again.
