Lack of confidence is just an excuse. We need to work on better off the ball movement and ball retention in compact situation. These are all basics, relying on long ball to overcome such problems are just lazy coaching.

You may think it's an excuse mate but it's brought up as a reason by exprofessionials when they commentate regularly. You go back to what you know you can do, they should know. Like I said not the sole reason but a contributing factor. To say it's lazy coaching is going a bit far to me. I doubt Moyes takes training and preparation that lightly from everything we've heard and seen of him.

Lets face it we are [Poor language removed](y)

actually we're not mate. in fact there's not a lot wrong. what is wrong is this.

the team are (must be) being coached in a style of play affectionately known as HOOFBALL (sorry i won't use that phrase again. promise).

players who are kak week in week out are first on the team sheet.

we play with one striker and then take him off and replace him with a big hairy midfielder.

we buy new much needed players (late) and stick them on the bench.

we make weird substitutions at crap times.

we play hoofball.. have been doing so for years.. oops. sorry.

uh. maybe we're [Poor language removed].

So hoof tactic is suppose to be the mother of all basic? That's hilarious. When chips are down all we have to do is to hoof it, it should work? Fact is it won't and it never will! If a coach fails to acknowlegde such ineffective tactic and rectify it, something is very wrong somewhere.

The difference is you make it sound like every player does it but thats not the case. Yobo is a major culprit, Pip when at RB and Baines at times but who else? Howards long punts need sorting out, I've only noticed it in the last couple of games. I won't include Hibbo as he's playing it much more on the deck at the moment. That change in his game has been brought about by coaching. Yobo has always been a slight law unto himself with his dodgy moments I wonder if you can ever stop him doing it.

This thread was originally do we need a new attacking coach. Think we both agree we do. (y)

The truth is we lack what is fundamentally required to succeed at this level...Pace, creativity and composure.

Billy can provide us with some much needed pace, but at the moment without Arteta, we dont seem to have the creativity and composure

Theres a few rumours doin the rounds that we maybe back in for Van Der Vaart in January...I hope its true, as we are going to struggle.
