To be honest, rebuttals in this thread have all gone a bit conservative and tentative, think the majority of the fan base are very unsure of him and take that as the broader evidance.
I can understand the American lads fighting his corner and wanting him to do well though.

I think the majority of the fan base are in agreement that he has been absolutely fine this season. The evidence of this is that when the team sheet is announced each week, not one person says anything negative about the decision to play him. That suggests to me that the majority are far from unsure of him.

Right I'm going to put this in such basic terms for you that even a half wit priest comprehends...
The closer to the shot Howard is the small the target behind him is.
Even Father Dougal understands this in the end..

Look lads, Howard is just one of those keepers. After a largely consistent first few years for us, in recent memory he's been on somewhat of a roller-coaster - crap in 12/13, boss in 13/14, crap in 14/15. Hopefully he'll be back to boss this season, but it's to early to tell despite a decent enough start to the season.
Could we get better? Yes.
However, the money a decent replacement would set us back could be better spent on more priority positions such as a creative player to break down stubborn defences and decent cover at RB and even another back up striker could still be required next summer given Kone's age and the fact that Rodriguez is a gamble albeit at a nominal fee.
But even then there are two things you cannot underestimate, experience and value to the dressing room. The latter of those two points is one that seems to be very important with regards to the current group of players. The manager appreciates this, you have every right to disagree of course but it's a recurring point in many of his interviews so I'm willing to accept it has some importance.
