Mile of his line and beaten on power. Respectfully disagree!
lol

Incredible really.

Are you suggesting that that belter from Matic yesterday could of been saved. Tell me exactly where Howard should be as Matic hit it.

Does anyone have a still photograph just as Matic hit the ball ? I'd like to see where Neiler suggests Howard should be.

Don't blame him for being beaten by a wonder strike. However he will cost us points throughout this season.

I would strongly disagree with that, wasn't like it was a curling wonder shot, it was a thump - pure power if he's on his line he saves that. Matic looks up and think to himself the keeper is way of his line here.

The fact that he's well known for a gaff I wonder does it encourage players to have a pop.

I've said it already he should be closer to his line he has defenders in front of him, there is no reason he should be far out, it was a well hit goal, power and placement, but not like it was a curling technically brilliant goal.

If he was way off his line, then surely he would try and chip him.

Only an Evertonian moans about the one goal we conceded, to the champions of England, an absolute wonder goal at that, after completely taking them to the cleaners with a wonderful display

On his line to face a shot, don't think so. It is about cutting down angles.

Thats where he was when the ball was struck.

Perfectly fine.

But as Matic is striking it he takes a step forward and plants both feet onto the ground, then attempts a dive from that position and doesn't get very far from it.

So it's not his positioning thats the problem, its taking that step forward then trying to dive sideways from a forward step into a flatfoot position. You're always gonna struggle doing that, you need to move your feet a lot quicker and be ready to take a slight side step in order to launch yourself into a dive.

It's very similar to Yarmalenko's one in Kiev.

Both his and Matic were quality strikes which even the best keepers would struggle to save, but in order to get fingertips to them you need to be in the perfect starting position and use the right technique.

Howard has the right starting position but his technique isn't spot on and that costs him the vital inches needed.
