Tim Howard

Although he was pretty terrible last season, and Joel Robles doesn't seem to be the keeper to challenge him for the #1 at Everton, I think that his return to the US national team is going to help him with competition, as for once he has to fight to be in the first team(with Brad Guzan).

Best goalie in Europe.

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has been named in the European team of the week, after his impressive performance against Tottenham Hotspur, by Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. Each week they select the best eleven players outside Serie A from the last weekend’s games, and the USA international has been named as the best stopper from the round of matches.

Howard was in great form during last Saturday’s clash with Tottenham after he pulled off a number of saves during Everton’s 0-0 away draw with the North London side.

The former Manchester United star was given a rating of eight for his display which was the highest ranking for any goalkeeper in Europe last weekend. Howard was joined by several superstars in the selected eleven which included Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller, Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriquez, and German legend Miroslav Klose.

Howard is currently away with the USA national team and when he returns to England he will be hoping Everton can get their season going. The Merseyside club have recorded just one victory in their first four Premier League games when they defeated Southampton 3-0 last month. In the other three games they have drawn two and lost one which leaves the club 9th in the table.

World class goal by Matic.

Imagine the fume on here for Naismith's 2nd and 3rd goals if Chelsea had scored those.
Nothing to do today but pick the ball out of the net flapped at one cross the defence were brilliant bar that one goal no closing down , but he still stands to far off his line to even get near a shot like that one today!
Their keeper made some good saves but looked poor!

I can't fault him for that goal. From where I was sat, I thought he could've done better, but watching it back, he had no chance.

Lads, do we think Robles will be Howards replacement? Or will we sign a new keeper once Martinez decides Howard needs to go?

we'll sign a new one. if he couldn't trust robles last season he won't ever trust him. maybe he just thinks he's too young, i like robles, but we need better to be where we want to be. butland has started the season great after a couple of years of backstepping.

One might suggest that you're desperately looking for faults to prove your view...

My views were about both keepers, nothing desperate, if any keeper, stands on his six yard box he invites a long shot, hence Naismiths second goal, he was able to fire it home with his weaker left foot great strike, but if the positioning of their keeper was further back he may have been able to tip it around the post , TH however again stood to far out, invited a shot that I feel was invited because the gap that is left , but TBH it was hit that well he may have had no chance of getting near it.
However any goal keeper stood too far off his line is inviting any one from 25-30 yards out to take a chance on a long range effort, imo it's poor positioning - EG look at Butlands positioning lately that's why he's in a great vain of form!
