There won't be any tax breaks because he is Australian. I would assume that this $4 million would be a net salary.

What does his nationality have to do with it ?

As an Australian citizen he has to pay up to Australias tax rate, even if the wages are earned abroad.

ie. He earns 2million in the UK (just an example, as its easiest) he pays the 40% (?) to UK tax man and then any difference between that tax rate and what it is in Oz (which is 50% for that wage). So even if there is no tax in the Kingdom, he would have to pay the 50% to the Oz tax man anyways.

Therefore, for it to be as big a pay day as people are saying (article) I'm assuming it would be net pay, after all taxes.

My dad's done some work there. It's alright as long as you dodge the big cities and have some protection from the higher ups.

Same with mine. Said it's the most boring place on Earth.

But aside from that it's downright dangerous. Very little/ no human rights. Women are treated like slaves. Public executions. There's a reason people from these Arab states end up over here you know.

You make me laugh. Do you read the daily mail ?

I don't care whether I as a millionaire and 'would be safe as houses' (when of course you wouldnt be, you'd just be a massive target) I wouldnt wanna be in a country where it's people live in oppression.

Also **** being a white woman walking through Riyadh city centre.

Cahill quoted as saying he loves the culture, he regularly holidays there and he will discuss his future after he leaves the Socceroos camp. It does seem feasible. I don't think that Cahill is money motivated but perhaps at 32 he's feeling that his ability to perform in the Premiership is dwindling and he would like one final challenge before he retires?

I suppose we'd get £3m tops for him. He would be a difficult player to replace, but maybe Moyes has decided that Fellaini will be playing in the hole in future anyway and that we couldn't afford to have one of our top-earners on the bench? It does stack up, but Cahill could go on in a deeper role and it would be sad to see him go.

Yeah, it's a ****hole but but that's not how protected foriegn workers get treated. Cahill's family will be safe as houses.

This.

I could see him going there for a year, raking in one big, final payday to set his family up, and then going back to Ausland.
