He is getting to the end but can still do a job for us. Our squad is thin anyway, losing Cahill would be a mistake.

Oh, and appalling is far too strong in my view.

He's going.......

Socceroos star Tim Cahill has heightened speculation regarding a possible move to United Arab Emirates club Al Nasr by talking of his strong connection to the Middle East.
Cahill still has two years left on his lucrative contract with Everton but has been linked with a reported $4 million deal for one season at the cashed-up club where compatriot Mark Bresciano's contract has another year to run.
"All these sort of elements of speculation will be dealt with after camp," Cahill said before Australia's World Cup qualifier against Oman in Muscat this Friday."It is always a compliment. I am a massive fan of the Middle East, the cultures, the people.
"I have travelled a lot and I respect them a lot. For me, it is just to focus on the Socceroos and we will see what happens later."Cahill is feted at Everton but his departure could ease the financial load on club as it tries to hold onto other key players.
Cahill said he did not need to speak to Bresciano about what the experience was like of playing in the Gulf.
"I know what the experience is like," he said.
"I have lived and breathed it.
"I have played in two Asia Cups and I have got great connections with a lot of important people overseas.
"I come on holiday in the Middle East a lot and I embrace the weather and the culture."
Australia commence the final stage of World Cup qualifying against Oman this week with the top two teams from each group earning direct qualification to the sport's showpiece tournament in 2014 in Brazil.
Cahill said it was crucial for the team to make a strong start to its qualifying campaign, starting with Friday's match to be played in oppressive heat against world No.92 Oman.
"This is the final push for a lot of players, a lot of the boys will be 35 or 36 ... and a lot of guys are moving to the Middle East and this is our last crack at it," he said.
Meanwhile senior player Ahmed Mubarak promised that Oman would bounce back after being humbled 3-0 by Japan at Saitama Stadium on Sunday.
"We are sure we will play a different ball game against Australia," he said.
Oman have lost key midfielder Fawzi Bashir for Friday's clash after picking up a yellow card against Japan while Ahmed Hadid has added his name to the side's growing injury list.
I'd be disappointed really, i'm waiting for him to burst back into form, I honestly believe he still has it in him. He's a legend anyway, side by side with big Dunc in my view.

He's on around £50k here so it'd be less than £3m off our wage bill in pounds. That does free up a lot and he's no where near worth that these days. If we got a fee of £3m then I'd look into it. Anything less and they can koff.

Can't see him upping sticks for that place though, whatever the money.

Hang on if he's on £3m a year here, isn't that more than $4m?

Or are there tax breaks over there?

I don't see why Timmy would want to move his family, as he seems like a family man, but if he wanted to move I'd have no qualms. He's given us some great memories, but after watching him struggle for the past 18 months, I can't see him giving us too many more.

First of all let me start by saying I love Tim Cahill ,I think he has been a great servant and is a blue through and through.
But I think Tim knows if he stays he is gonna spend a lot of time on the bench next season. Tim Loves playing football and at this late stage in his career does he really want to be spending it sat on the bench watching I don't think he does, and I for one applaud him for that. I think we all know how important it is for Tim to play for his country. I do feel this move would possibly prolong his international career not as much travelling etc.
If he does go, then like his best friend Arteta he will go with my blessing plus if it gives young Ross Barkley more playing time then that is also welcomed by me.

there is no way he is on £75k a week, plus he would be subject to the 50% tax.

I was just quoting Paul, I didn't do the maths.

If he's on £50K then that's £2.6 mil a year. Which is about $4m.

So presumably then there would be a massive difference in taxes, as his actual salary would be the same.

Yeah I hope he goes tbh. He's a legend and could still play a part from the bench but every good thing comes to an end which tbf was prob 18 months ago!

He can go and earn good money over there, keep playing, keep himself in the national team and then come back for a testimonial match.

Yes the tax breaks would mean he would almost double his salary. You couldn't blame him for going, as long as there is a fee.

If he's got one more good season in him then he can do it for us before picking up his Pension in the Middle East.

He's past it now. Playing for us and Australia with his style of play have caught up on him. Thanks for the service but it's time to move on.

What the fee might be would be debatable, but I don't understand why people think there might not be a fee.

He has multiple years on his contract. There would have to be a fee.
