This club is a joke

Not a chance we´d go on that run they did. On paper they are probably the weakest of the top 6 but they will still finish 20+ points above us.

He can't be serious. They beat us 2-0, they beat Spurs 4-2 - a side we got destroyed 6-2 by on our own ground. 11 points ahead already.

As you say, they will be 20 or more above us by the end of the season.

I think you're being far too kind. We need to start demanding more of everything around the club if the money genuinely is there. No more pathetic signings like Walcott and Tosun, the club needs to start doing its research like Spurs did and bringing in players at low prices who can develop into superstars.

Is that difficult? Of course it is. But it is what is required.
That's what Marcel Brands was brought in for, i think his summer signings have in the most part been a success. The damage was done by Koeman and Walsh.

I'm clinging to Marcels coat strings Me

In reality getting a result away to an elite club is not in itself an indicator of improved fortunes , enjoyable as it may be.
How many clubs over the years have gained impressive wins at the top clubs yet still reside firmly in mid table limbo.?
Indeed how many now occupy lower leagues.?
I would hazard quite a few.
The truth is unless you are actively competing for the title or champions league places then results against the top six clubs have little more actual significance than results against the bottom six.
One thing to note is that aside from City we competed well with the top sides we have played away this season and given them a game , which is a vast improvement on previous seasons. Small meat I know but from little acorns.......

Don´t envy his task at all. Good signings this summer but we really need him to now pull some gems from nowhere.

I reckon everyone needs to start thinking longterm a bit more. We need to ditch some players and add some quality but presumably the manager has that in mind.

It can't all be done this season. Two years minimum I'd say. We're not Real Madrid.
I agree with this....

But Christ impatience is understandable.

Winning in them games just brings more excitement but I agree with you there.

Spurs for example, have had an abysmal away record against the top clubs even more recently despite having a top 4 side.

You don’t get anything out of being an Everton supporter, apart from heartache ,pain and absolute depression.A massive thing no one mentions whilst this club has been treading water (at best) for the last quarter century is how many young fans have we lost , and then multiply their kids , and their kids kids etc etc , I bet we have never been so far away from the rs and the casim is only going to get bigger !

I guess that's where we differ. I may well be temporarily naffed off with performance, but every time I get to within sniffing distance of the ground all that is forgotten. I truly believe, despite all the evidence to the contrary that one day it will come good. I truly believe that our last 30 years are down to those vile rodents ruining the chances we had to succeed, that broke up out best team ever, and we have never properly recovered.

We are finally starting to show what and who we are and despite set backs along the way, we are playing decent football and have the nucleus of a good squad. More to add and more to do, but we have started on the right track. Keep the faith, we are moving forward.

Moshiri still seems to be doing things arse about face for me.
Giving a Manager with potential all his dosh to spend. I’m talking as a supporter but for me I’d have grabbed a top of the range Manager and offered him a kings ransom.
All this entertaining football bollocks, I’d rather watch a Jose Chelsea win things than an attacking great football side that win sweet FA.
I can’t stand Everton sometimes.

Blokes clueless and is advised by our wonderful chairman Bill who loves his plodder nodding dog managers.

God imagine our board trying to deal with a Mourinho, Mancini or Simeone.

Amateurs they are.

To be fair, we shipped plenty of goals under Moyes at times too. Bolton at home 4-0 was a personal favourite.
Wasn’t that the Christmas we lost three in a row 4-0, then lost the derby 3-1? IIRC, the other four-nils were to Villa and West Brom, both of which are now Championship teams. I’d prefer we were doing better than we are right now, but that spell takes some beating. <shudders>

Of course it has information value. We are poor against the top sides so that’s points lost every single season.
In exactly the same way points dropped at home to the likes of Huddersfield, Newcastle and Watford this season has information value.

Oh and we definitely did talk about it during Moyes’ reign.

Precisely: total points gained at the end of the season has information value. The subset of points won against the current top six across seasons adds no information value on top.

I just had a quick look at it for the last 10 years against the current top five and six (away wins) and we are just above the middle of the pack. So the evidence goes against the idea that we are performing far worse than others and far worse than we should be.

For instance, Spurs have won 8 of 55 in that time, we have won 5 of 55. The team with the best win record against current top 6? Aston Villa! Won 10 of 54. As I said, no extra information value.
