This club is a joke

I agree some of our fans need to take things a little bit better but it's a tough time to be an Evertonian at the moment. Under Moyes, the fans felt a frustration that we had reached a glass ceiling, and we were desperate for a Billionaire owner to take us to the next level. Moyes went and amazingly Martinez seemed to take us to a new level in 13-14 and the fans were starting to believe that we could push on finally. 2 awfully disappointing seasons followed, and we were then given a new lease of life with Moshiri coming in, and we brought in a big footballing name in Koeman and got 7th. Last season was a disaster, and there is no point in denying that what that lot do also comes in to play with how we feel as fans. They got to the CL final demolishing sides home and away, and now look like they're going to win their first title for nearly 30 years without having lost a single game.

Not many other supporters have to endure such mediocrity for their own club whilst their city rivals have so much joy.

But Everton are our club and we won't turn our back on them as we simply can't. The frustration with days like yesterday won't go away but I think the fans need to accept that the best we can achieve before moving to BMD (assuming that happens) is stabilising our position around 7th/8th and attempting to close the gap to ourselves and 6th.

Once we move Stadium, we will be seen in a different light and if Silva can have us in 7th for a few seasons, with Brands and him steadily adding quality of a good age then we will then have the foundations to make the step up and try and disrupt that top 6.

A reality check is needed by a lot of us. We are miles away from Man United and Arsenal, let alone sides like Spurs, Chelsea and the other 2.

We’re not miles off arsenal ,they can be caught and if we don’t beat arsenal at home whenever that it then we may as well accept our place in the middle of the table drifting aimlessly

What are you basing that on?

They have Aubameyang who is the league's joint top scorer and has Champions League pedigree. They have a trophy winning manager and are 11 points ahead of us.

I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you are expecting us to catch them any time soon.

Actually they are. And unlike us they're in a real one, yet haven't used it as an excuse for failure like we have. Going from the championship to the premiership is one hell of a transition.

Facinating. I could have SWORN that they won the championship last year and spend a lot of money the past 2- 3 seasons since Jorge Mendes has been involved starting in 2016. Maybe I'm wrong, but I also thought that Nuno had been manager for a couple years by now.

You would also think a team in transition would have a lot of different players coming in year over year. You know, guys like Coady, Bennett, Neves, Doherty, Boly, Jota, Costa, etc. Oh wait, they were ALL there last year when they won the championship...

...so this idea that they are a team in transition, please. They are playing the SAME system under the SAME manager with the SAME team they had last year. The difference is that this year they actually added some pieces to an existing foundation.

Silva is in year one...actually, he's 19 games in. That's it. Nuno Santos is also no more an accomplished manager than Marco Silva is.

Fascinating is one way of putting it I suppose.....

It doesn't matter how many years the manager has been there. They're still in a different and more difficult league. It's still a transition and a far bigger one then we're facing and making such a hash of.

1st man.....I say, I say, I say Have you heard about the mid table club ?

2nd man..... No , what about the mid table club?

1st man.....They’re a mid table club!!!!!!!……………………………

Hardly rolling in the aisles here.

Wait, so because you are playing more difficult competition, that is a bigger transition than a new manager, a new D of F, a completely new style of playing, etc.? Really?

I completely disagree.

The problem I see is we are sat in 10/11th and not many fans are bothered.

Yet the Red Echo instead of pointing out our poor run is more bothered with reporting:

"Fans fume at Sport Pesa and former manager Koeman"

Exactly in a nutshell why this club is a joke, fans and ownership alike happy with mediocrity whilst the local journo's havent the balls to ask the proper questions.

You're taking stock in what that rag publishes? More fool you, and those that are even remotely bothered by what the sponsor or the Dutch numbnuts put up on social media need to get their miserable lives in check, far more bigger issues in the world to be arsed about

I’m basing it on that they have two good players the rest are no better and there defence is worse than ours if we don’t think we can try and catch them then what’s the point

Moving from one league were you were THE standout team into a completely different league were you're facing totally different teams and the standard is so much higher, it's a pretty big transition imo. I still wouldn't say it justifies shrugging off bad results like we do though. If we can't have higher standards then Wolves then the club is even worse shape then I feared.

Okay, that's fair, and I'm not shrugging off bad results. I also believe we are a better team and a better club.

But they've still have an extra year and a half to get rid of their crap and get new faces in the door. Our team is going to look very different next fall I believe.

Why are they 11 points ahead of us and went on a 20+ game unbeaten run then? Are you on the wind up here?

Not a chance we´d go on that run they did. On paper they are probably the weakest of the top 6 but they will still finish 20+ points above us.

Nobody talked about it when we beat City away so often under Moyes, yet our performances against the other five were still as bad!

It’s just a statistic with no information value, pumped out for the Sky generation ‘analysing’ the game with other half-interested mates in the pub.

Of course it has information value. We are poor against the top sides so that’s points lost every single season.
In exactly the same way points dropped at home to the likes of Huddersfield, Newcastle and Watford this season has information value.

Oh and we definitely did talk about it during Moyes’ reign.
