This American talk

I think a title 'this american talk' could be insulting but EVEN if USA evertonians would want some Americans playing for us, what's wrong with that? Would make it more interesting for them and for me too, and I'm not American. Dempsey and Donovan is probably a dream that won't come true though. Hopefully we can still get in Donovan at some point in the future.

Quite old but i'd have Donovan. no chance that i want Dempsey, the numbers being threw around for him are ridiculous he's another Charlie Adam

Does anyone else feel like the next few years would be our best shot at winning something? Why not some "stopgap" players? For beyond the next few years what is certain? Fellaini is the only player I an think of that will still be performing at the top level. Everything else is a question mark.

If we can bring in players that could potentially bring us a trophy in the next few years I think we should.

Surely given the age of the squaad the next 2 years are pivotal. I cant see Felli staying more than 1 year if we dont win something or get into Europe. Baines too. The end is nigh for Pip and Hibbo, Distin, and even Pienaar and Osman don't have long. Howard may go 3-4 more years but looking long term we have a major rebuild coming up in 2 years so the strategy could be either to start the rebuild now - after all 7th is not something we aspire to repeat - OR - go for a short term winning team with the gamble that the extra cash from winning stuff , Europe Etc and the kudos brings new players in and ups the value of the existing fogeys for re-employment in China,UAE or USA. I personally would go for the latter and Moyles might if he is thinking of his next gig. However knwoing dithering davey he will land somewhere inbetween the 2 strategies and end up with bugger-all!

I'm scouse and I want scousers playing in the team, hence my support for Rodwell, Barkley, Hibbert etc and I'm not going to apologise for that. I wouldn't ask a yank to apologise for wanting yanks in the team either.

Can see where your comin from but it's a bit like what pompy did IMO

Can just speak for myself as an American Evertonian, but I wouldn't sign them for more than they're worth....Would I pay 20m for the pair? No chance....would I pay 6m for both? That sounds about right :) They're only a poor deal if we overpay for them...and I don't think there's a chance of overpaying with this clubs management.

I'll freely admit I'd like to have one yank field player on the roster (donovan plz) but 2...meh...I'd take Dempsey on the cheap if we could get him, but not because he's American, but only because he'd probably slot in behind Jelavic really really nicely.

Should start rebuilding now, dead on.

I pick up all sorts of stuff here.

It gets worse because sometimes I'll use it around my a friend or two here and they look at me like, "What???"

The premise of this thread is insulting. To think that the Americans on here care more about having Americans on the team, than about Everton's success is a joke. If any of us want Donovan or Dempsey, it's because we think they would make us better (Donovan has proven that).

Fact: Americans are cheaper the Europeans, have a strong work ethic, tend not to be tits, and the best ones like D & D can actually play. Dempsey was voted by the PWA in England as the 4th best player in the PL last year. So you're saying that we don't want someone who had that good a season?

Do one Zat.

Don't think Donovan OR Dempsey would be cheaper than European players....even using todays example of Mirallas he would be much cheaper...in terms of fee and wages.

Also I find it a bit racist that you suggest Americans have 'A strong work ethic' and 'tend not to be tits'

I'm unsure as to what else you could be suggesting other than Europeans are lazy tits, which is RACIST.

Absolutely heartbroken here.
