you keep bringing up the new tv deal, as if its our saviour.

What about the previous record tv deals, how come they were not our saviour.

Their is a common denominator, to say that this new tv deal will go the same way as previous ones.

As i have stated earlier, organically we need to increase our turnover. The current regime have failed, and are not willing to invite investment through a share rights issue, as it would devalue the massive payout they want, once they eventually find a buyer to pay over the odds for the club.

The new TV deal will stop our current annual loss of 5million pound per year, so in a way it is a saving grace.

Our costs have increased dramtically since the last TV deal, without that deal we wouldn't have been able to reach that level of expenditure, it's as simple as that.

The new TV money will be spent one way or another, you can go on as if it's all going to go on OOC, but I say bookmark this thread and review in two years time, and see what's happening on the transfer front.

Again, we compete in a league with 19 other squads that will be receiving this TV money as well. There will not be this dramatic windfall that you describe. The money will be eaten up trying to contend with the other clubs.

As Moomin states (can't believe I just typed that), revenues need to grow from sources that are not shared with the rest of the league in order for Everton to grow.

Nobody is denying that the additional revenue will be swallowed up through expenses.

Where people differ, is in what they think the extra money will be spent on.

I think a fat chunk will go on strengthening the squad, whereas quite a few people on here think the playing squad will be ignored, and that it will all go on other operating costs

All the Sky money goes on player wages and running of the club

Says who?

I find it hard to believe that no money from the Rooney sale went to the bank.

I find it even harder to believe that we were still spending the Rooney money in 2007, and that we were biding our time (2 and a half years) in spending circa 15million pound.

I find it much easier to believe that we borrowed money on the back of a new revenue stream that was due to come in during summer 2007.

I also believe that we will see numerous clubs do this next summer, on the back of the new revenue we will receive in 2014.

2006/07 - we began 2006/07 on the back of an 11th placed league finish and with opening net debts of £22m. We finished 6th with income of £51m. Our wage bill rose to £38m representing 75% of our income, including new contracts for Yobo, Valente, Vaughan and Anichebe and after deducting all the other costs of running the Club we generated just over £1m before paying finance and interest charges on our borrowings. We spent £4m net on new players (money we paid out on signing including Kroldrup, Davies, Johnson and Lescott less money banked on the likes of Rooney, Bent, Kilbane and Davies) and we paid £3m of interest and finance charges. Borrowings increased by £4m to £26m.

At one point in recent years, we had loans against the two next years of sky money.

We are maxed out on credit cards, next months money is owed to WONGA and all we have left is the family silver to sell.

Haven't read all of the posts, am not American but it makes us very marketable in the States IMO, if we cud not make any money on the back of Dempsey, Donovan and Howard then we will never will. The people that are in charge of marketing need hanging, isn't a board member a us tycoon Robert earl (planet hollywood)(ocean).
I think earl might have something to do with the EA deal.

Where does it say that TV money has never been used to purchase players?

4 million net spend, where did that come from? It doesn't include the 3 million paid for Howard either, where did that come from? There's 7 million pound alone, that hasn't come from the Rooney money.

Who wrote it by the way?

I'm not denying that mate.

I just think it is unlikely that all of the Rooney money went on players, and that it took us two and a half years to spend it.

The premise of this thread is insulting. To think that the Americans on here care more about having Americans on the team, than about Everton's success is a joke. If any of us want Donovan or Dempsey, it's because we think they would make us better (Donovan has proven that).

Fact: Americans are cheaper the Europeans, have a strong work ethic, tend not to be tits, and the best ones like D & D can actually play. Dempsey was voted by the PWA in England as the 4th best player in the PL last year. So you're saying that we don't want someone who had that good a season?

Do one Zat.

Sign D/D ffs.

Be crazy to not take both if available IMO. Dempsey scores a good amount of goals and we all know what Donovan brings. If short term ment european football and extra revenue then... USA USA USA!!!

You said it perfectly.
