2025/26 Thierno Barry

Clearly has talent, can’t understand why he hasn’t had minutes on the wing.
Can understand why he hasn’t had minutes at full back.
Yeah right with you on that one, and that's where I really start to lose patience with Moyes.

If Aznou had been bought by Brighton or Bournemouth he would have just been playing left back this season in my opinion, especially if the other option they had there was Myko.

Obviously don't expect that from Moyes though. Can accept his reluctance to put a kid in a back 4 (though my acceptance of that lessens every week watching Myko play), but when we've been watching McNeil and Alcaraz struggle out wide this season it begs the question why he's not tried Aznou there at all.

Anyway it's the Barry thread so will bring it back around to say that it's great to see how much Barry is taking a bit of a big brother role with Aznou. Will benefit both players.

I dont deny any of that.

My point is the extent to which we as a club prioritise it is, IMO, a mentality throwback. The game isnt what it was.
Said something similar in the thread about expectations the other day, though that was more about Everton fans being obsessed with a very specific personality of player.

Could say the exact same about the decision makers at the club being far too wedded to a specific physical profile. We need to get with the times.

You can't fill an entire 11 with less athletic, more technical players and not be punished in this league (see RS this season, look lightweight). But in a team with a lot of tall strong players like ours you can afford to have players like Aznou in the side imo.

After seeing the strapping in his shoulder when he threw his shirt to that young fan the other week no wonder he isn't putting himself about, just hope it can be fixed in the Summer.
Yep, I'd forgotten how we bought a player with a known dodgy shoulder.
Needs fixing in June, once they start popping out no amount of physio muscle rehab will fix it

Never doubted that he had talent and would come good with some patience, glad hes getting the goals now, even when he wasn't scoring was adding much more to our play than the alternative option. Moyes made right decision to let him play himself into confidence and form.
Same should be done with Dibling, tell him he is starting the next 4 games

has had to work very hard to get to half chances and occasionally score like he has. shows in comparison with cal-lewin who was much better with his head who could find himself onto a good cross and score without seemingly the buckets of sweat barry has to put in.

He used to be a number 6 ?! 😂

Next I'll be hearing beto used to be a cultured no 8

Hard not to love this guy. Comes across very well as a personality and has the mentality to be a success here imo.

Puts stuff in perspective as well hearing him say he's only played as a striker for the last 2 seasons. I think he will keep on improving the more he plays.
