As a striker for Everton to get into top 6 and stay there, your right! He would'nt start in almost any other team in the Prem, if any.I think we know you just don't like him.

I get this is the consensus, and what Everton are doing - but I'm never convinced. I think it's a mentality throw-back.
Only Salah scored more than this fella in the league for Newcastle last season;

I think of Wissa, Watkins etc too.
All of those players are strong and hard to shift of the ball. They're not going to be feeding him steak and Guinness. They'll be working on his core strength etc. he probably won't bulk up much.I get this is the consensus, and what Everton are doing - but I'm never convinced. I think it's a mentality throw-back.

They play for clubs that put the ball in front of them, rather than punt it up to a back to goal striker on the half way line.

Strength and Balance:
Barry’s tall, lanky frame means he does not have a low centre of gravity, leading to him getting pushed off the ball too easily in some situations. There are times when he does use his tall upper body to protect the ball well, but he does not always get low enough to the ground to make it difficult for a defender to knock him off the ball. He can sustain a good amount of shoulder-to-shoulder contact, but again his balance occasionally lets him down in these duels. He has shown he can be smart while protecting the ball, often winning fouls when overeager defenders lunge to win the ball.
Must confess I had to look it up.His sexy dexy celebration was pretty cool I thought.
It's because it's such an obvious short coming. He's 6 ft 5 and he gets bullied a lot by defenders. He would be a much better player if he was slightly stronger on the ball. When he runs with the ball he is easily knocked off balance.You'd hope/expect, but it seems all the club, manager an player himself now seem to ref in every conversation is he needs to work on his physique. It always seems to be the pressing issue. Like even this thread now, it's being debated because it's constantly mentioned and people parrot it.
Yeah sound, you're a centre forward in the Prem, use the gym - but the apparent massive onus on it where it's proactively mentioned is a throwback in mentality to me, and/or we're signing players and asking them to do a job they're not natural at.
No doubt, then sign a player suited for a style of play you want to play, rather than one who has developed his entire career/game based on his existing physique, an asking him to be/do something he isn't. Thierno Barry is never going to be a back to goal striker.
It's the same with Aznou - seems odd to me Barcelona an Bayern Munich didn't think they needed to get him on weights. He comes here an can't get a sniff ahead of one of, if not the worst left back we've ever had IMO. Premier League blah blah.

This fella did a report on Barry a few years ago;

Thierno Barry - Scout Report
The French international has gotten off to a fantastic start for Basel this season and is showing he is ready for the next step in his career.franciscomaldonado.substack.com
And a lot of it rings true to me from what I've seen of Barry -
^ Get in front of the defender, be smart with the ball - being a grok shouldn't be a prerequisite. As per examples, some of the very best goalscorers are no stronger than him.
I get it, he needs to sometimes be stronger on the ball, but it's just over-egged IMO.
Random, but Ross Barkley lost a lot of his game when someone decided he needed to bulk up.
