I think it’s surprising to people just how quick out of the gates he was.

Related, I am currently reading Michael Holding's book 'Why we kneel, How we rise' and the general theme of the book is dehumanisation. Just also had a discussion with the wife about it. It has been mentioned a hundred times but it is exactly what Hitler did, he went after 'other' people. She was talking along the lines that Hitler was, obviously, infinitely more intelligent than Trump and played the long game to get into a position where he could be opportunistic and be voted in as a dictator. I’m lost for words. This needs intervention.

What gave you the impression that he was even remotely interested in improving the livelihoods of average Americans?

Well, yes, obviously he doesn't. But I assume at some point his constituency and perhaps even the media will ask him what he is actually doing about the economy since exit polls in the last election indicated that huge chunks of Trump voters (who's income levels were less than Harris voters) indicated the economy was not good, that they were concerned about inflation, and that they trusted Trump (vs Harris) with the economy. It will be interesting to see how he diverts and distracts from economic issues and I suggest starting a war/invasion are tried and true diversionary tactics.
