But surely you can see why people don’t think you’re arguing in good faith.

First, simply taking Musk at his word on the matter seems incredibly naive.

Second, a person having their right arm extended is not the same thing as the gesture in question. That’s why the video of the images you linked would be valuable. They would provide context that a still image simply cannot.

Also, as I’ve mentioned multiple times, and even linked a video, this isn’t his first time using something that perfectly mimics a white supremacist gesture in public. Also, they were two unique gestures, not just repeating the same one where it could possibly be explained away as some unusual mannerism of his. What say you to that? When do these things stop being a coincidence?

so it is about the minutiae of the act then? I suppose we could assess the character of the kicker to make a better judgement. Does he for example regularly support other nut kickers? If he does I would say it is beyond a reasonable doubt that it was a kick in the nuts

Which is a bad point.

You cannot compare a photo with a video. There is a video of Musk doing this (Twice), all you provided in comparison is a still photo with no context.

Let me go to a football analogy we know well here. Allen was sent off against Newcastle, what we saw was that when the ref came to the VAR screen there was a still image of contact, it looked bad and was therefore sent off. Now if we watch the video of that tackle, there is no force and he was in control the whole time. It wasn't the case (If I remember it right) but the incident could also have missed that the ball was got first, which you cannot see from a still image after this has happened.

It looked like a Nazi salute in a still photo and it certainly looked like it in a video, it is added to the fact that his actions and words over the past year or so have been very much bordering on fascism. The reactions of the people around him is also very telling.

You are allowed to have the opinion but I think you are missing/ignoring very pertinent pieces of information that very much lends itself to the idea that this was meant as exactly it was seen to be.

You also based your opinion in the fact that he denied it, again not a very good point to make and is easily pulled apart, which people have done.
