For the record, i'm not a Trump supporter, nor a Musk supporter. I just don't believe Musk was doing a Roman salute live on TV. I think it's been misconstrued to fuel an agenda. I do however, like the piss boiling of the far left by Musk so there is that.

It took me less than a minute to read 'all of that' . You have to admit, a statement like yours does lead easily into that retort.

In that post, the person apparently comes from a medical background that deals with the kind of autism that Musk has. So, we have to assume that it is not just another random opinion but one based in experience and knowledge. Now, we know that we have to treat everything cynically on the internet but sometimes you have to look at the situation and say, 'Yeah, the evidence points to that being the case'.

And the evidence and context is very, very strong on this one. You can't blame people for reaching the conclusion that we have reached.

Like I posted yesterday, this isn’t his first time publicly making white supremacist gestures. If this were the first time, maybe you excuse it as a weird, unfortunate coincidence. Do it a second time and people are going to (rightfully IMO) stop giving you the benefit of the doubt REAL quick.

Everyone knows he did a Nazi salute, including Nazis and the legion of apologists that have rallied to proclaim it a Roman salute despite the fact that symbols change in meaning over time. Thumbs down in Ancient Rome used to mean 'drop your weapon and spare your opponent' but has changed over time to mean a negative.

Musk's support and promotion of Nazi ideology also provides more than enough supportive evidence of his mens rea

Whether it was a Nazi salute or not, only Musk really knows. To me it looked a bit similar but what his intentions were, I don't know for certain. But I definitely wouldn't take Musk denial as definitive evidence that it wasn't. What else is he going to say?

As for the photos you posted as a comparison - a screenshot is a million miles away from a video. I think you already know that though, which is why you have so far refused the challenge to post the videos that the stills came from. That is a very disingenuous and dishonest style of discussion.

Having said that, you are correct that this forum in general, and this thread specifically have essentially become echo chambers, but that is because very few people actually take an opposing view in good faith. Perhaps if enough people were brave enough to do that, it could be a much better forum?
