The position of Bilyaletdinov

Very difficult to judge Billy, unclear what his best position is. Could it be that his perfomances are not good due to the way in which Moyes wants him to play albeit not in his preferred role.

Having thought about it some more it'd be criminal introducing Coleman to the harsh life of Premiership football with a static winger in front of him as support, particularly considering the defensive positional naivety he often displayed during his time with Blackpool.

& so the enigma of Billy Elliott continues. <sighs>

Something just dawned on me.

When Moyes had that £9 million-ish to spend, why did he buy Bily? Why didn't he buy a right winger? Bily is, what? An attacking mid? Left mid? Center mid? Doesn't matter which way you argue it, we've got those positions well covered, and we did before we bought Bily.

If we could get our money back, I'd do it. I can't see him coming good, for all his talents (best left foot in the prem, me thinks). Harsh, but seemingly true. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, and next year Chico drags this thread up; putting egg on my face. But right now, it doesn't look good.

Hope to see this post again in April. In Chico I trust.

Was Bily the number 7 running back to cover when they scored? He kept up with play just fine, but couldn't cut the pass out. Or am I seeing things in hope enduced hallucinogenics?

Don't know about the goal but i do believe i saw him covering back a few times yesterday.

Pienarr pretty much stunk yesterday from an attacking sense but we know what he can do so accept it.

But with Bily, apart from the odd flash we've yet to see him really show the goods all match. I'd like to see him given a run in the side, sure if he stinks like he did yesterday for 3 games in a row drop him again. But yesterday although things weren't coming off for him he was getting into the postions to make something happen.

Have some faith in him and hopefully build his confidence up and i reckon we may well see the best of him.

And lets face it, he is no worse than anyone else we have to play wide right.

losing faith in him ever coming good, plays like Chris waddle when he was 35, the fee was undisclosed when we bought him no way we paid anything like 9 million for him, if we did we were robbed 3 million tops for a player that might just come good in the prem, he would be better off in a slower league.

He has the left foot to be that predator on the outskirts of the box for corners he isn't strong enough to fight for or freekicks he doesn't have the bottle to challenge for to smack in when it breaks. Bit like Scholes today, just sat waiting to clean up if it breaks centrally. He simply has to take 5% less out of trying to demolish the stadium on his own out of the power bar and put 100% more into targetting the ball at least into a position where the goalie makes a save.
When he wound up for his first crack, the Everton players between him and goal hit the deck. Everyone and their ancestors knows he can crack one very very hard. Target practice for Bily and stamina to cover 6 miles a game.

Fat Sam said something about putting that Kalinic lad on core-weights over the summer.

Billy is a lean, slim lad, if we want him to fight more for the ball, lets have him hit the gym.

Pity Goose has gone, he could have took some hints from him, that lad ballooned.

Not sure if anybody has mentioned this yet, but Everton has only ever lost ONE league match EVER when Billy plays at any point in the match. That loss was obviously against Rovers when he got subbed in, so he must be doing something right. Just sayin'.

Na, we lost the derby when Bily missed that sitter for one.

Forgot about that one...but still...only 2 league matches he's lost when he's played?? that means he has to have some sort of positive impact on the pitch for everton to play so well whenever he comes on. he played 23 league matches last year for everton with only one loss, and his 2nd loss just came 2 weeks ago. i think he's a find player, and people don't give him enough credit for what he accomplishes on the pitch.
