In 2012 she was named as a member of the Great Britain handball team at the 2012 London Olympics; Britains's first ever Olympic women's handball team.[SUP][3][/SUP] A week after, it was revealed that Lam-Moores had signed a one year professional contract with the Danish club Viborg HK.[SUP][7][/SUP] It was revealed soon after the Olympic campaign had begun that Lam-Moores was suffering from a stress fracture of the spine.[SUP][8][/SUP] Despite this set back she was able to score two goals in Great Britain Women's second Olympic game against Russia

Wow, she's scored 5 up to today.

Its the lottery funding for sport generally, combined with a much increased professionalism from coaches and athletes, that has led to this.

It's been a conscious attempt to rack up medals in two key sports: cycling and rowing....which GB were good at anyway, but this extra funding has suer-charged it. Take those medals out and you're left with the usual medal haul, almost.

It's obviolsy all timed for these games. Watch the money go elsewhere after the games and the inevitable decline, as athletes are forced to go P/T again. The government of the day get a political boost off it and then back to the old way it'll go.

Murray has no right to be as good as he is at tennis as a scot. It's like if the 4th best footballer in the world came from Papua New Guinea or the fourth best cricketer came from nepal.

List of events for tonight's track and field:

Thankfully little or no chance of a British win, so a relative melt-free zone at last.

I think there is certainly something to that but then the Cubans have always targeted boxing whilst the yanks dominate swimming, to me recognising a sport you are strong in and ensuring you try to get stronger just seems like a 'no-brainer' but also as we all know success breeds success . I'm not from the kind of household that has a history in rowing but if i was much much younger id have fancied a go after the enjoyment its given me but rather than a aging halfwit like me we'll hopefully attract real young talent. If you look at the fact there are working class lads winning medals in the olympic regatta the redgrave effect is still in full swing as is the initiatives hes introduced (sporting giants etc..) .

I think the performance in athletics yesterday was certainly up on the usual and I believe the boxing end result will (hopefully ) mark our greatest ever olympics performance in the ring.

It wont last mate. You have to be a sporting and economic powerhouse like the US/Russia/China/Germany to sustain great sporting efforts over time. Spain had a great games in Barcelona and the Aussies in Sydney. Britain is a middle ranking country and wont ever reach anywhere near these highs again.

You cant knock it though: they've peaked bang on time and are reaping the benefits. I just wish all the jingoistic tits would wind their necks in, because all this 'I'm proud to be British' bull**** is spoiling a global sporting occasion. I'm going to have to switch to Eurosport for the track and field. I feel nauseous when I hear the BBC divvies chatting their shite. Proper ruining the Games.
