34 medals, and 16 gold. Pretty good.

We got 47 (19 gold) last time, 30 (9 gold) in 2004 and 28 (11 gold) in 2000.

GB are heading to 26 golds + imo.

You have to factor in the home team effect, but that's still a decent haul for a nation that's usually pretty shit at the olympics.

It has to be down to the lottery funding being targetted at cycling and rowing. Pretty smart move really. I also think the standard of competition from usually dominant nations is poor (apart from the yanks in the pool who have been *awesome*).

Its the lottery funding for sport generally, combined with a much increased professionalism from coaches and athletes, that has led to this.
 
At the end of the day you can only play what's in front of you, Federer was pretty gash but that's not Murray's fault, he then proceeded to smashing him.

Not many players can claim that.
