The Oldies Thread

Happy Birthday young un
I was 67 yesterday and I'm currently a bit hung over.:drunk:
I don't normally celebrate birthdays now but yesterday also marked 10 years since I retired which I figured did call for celebration?
Incidentally, it was also 49 years yesterday since the first time I ever got banned from my local ?

Happy belated birthday….

Just realised my birthday was Sunday NOT yesterday.
This is what age (and alcohol) do to you.:oops:

So, I made it to 58 today and my understanding is I've dragged out 'middle aged' by a couple of years and I have both feet firmly in 'duffer' territory now.
What happens now? Have I got to start moving on from tutting at kids and start writing angry letters to the local free paper? What is my motivation as an arl fart?

Swerve daytime TV mate.

The ads, designed for oldies, will make you severely depressed.

Home food deliveries, seniors life insurance, and cremation plans.

PS=Belated happy birthday, and only 2 years for the free Mersey travel Pass.

The funniest bit is when some kids kick a ball towards you (which in the past you would have lifted with your toes and keepy uppy juggled it a bit before volleying it back to them) then the ball hits your foot, rolls away, and you feel like an idiot….
Done that and then fell over (metal hip siezed up :) )

HB and now is the time to start enjoying being an old fart. Embrace the aches and pains.Do whatever you want apart from hitting people(they will hit you back harder).Don’t get stuck on routines,if you want to see the traffic lights change colour,do it at different times each day.
As for motivation just make sure your brain stays young.

Remember years ago (mid 60's) the council came and tarmaced our close. Lovely and smooth it was - roller skates (the ones that went over your shoes) out and ready for when it dried. came out the following morning and the barstewards had put chippings on top. Still have holes in my knees
In the 1940's, Walton Hall Avenue was so smooth, like glass, we used to do all our roller skating on there. A car or lorry would come past every 10 minutes or so, so we had the road to ourselves.

My back has been a bit stiff and sore recently, so as I was playing snooker today, I thought I would soak in a hot bath last night to ease it a bit. As I was getting up, I slipped and had a mega fall back into the bath. Fortunately, didn't break anything (my mate said I should have ensured I landed on my head!) but have several bruises and sore spots. I had filled the bath quite deep and it went over the edge of the bath like a tsunami and flooded the bathroom floor. Back to showers from now on.

1960's and all the houses in Abingdon Road, Walton were being painted.

Any colour you like, as long as it was corpy green
