The Oldies Thread

That new fangled drink, Lager had made the breakthrough on draught. Suddenly that's all we were drinking and forgot what a wholesome drink boring old mild was, and a lot cheaper.
When I can,I go all Coronation St and have a milk stout, impossible to find here in Spain so just a treat when I get back to the UK.

Their dark mild was legend.
Walkers Mild
Burtonwood Mild
Wasn't to keen on Greehalls Mild
In The Hillfoot, where all the tradesmen would go with their wages most friday nights...and no doubt other Higsons pubs...they had an 'up market' M&B Mild...as a 16yo apprentice, I had to stay on the standard Higsons Mild...when I complained the fitter said, I'm payin and you're to young for (the stronger) M&B...completely missing the Irony of me being too young anyway.

Proper car seats thick and plush not thin as board ergonomically designed spine deformers of modern cars and Mr Kiplings chocolate fudge cake. Mr Kipling should be beaten with sticks for stopping production - such a grotesque abuse of power

Got timed out on the edit.
Sometimes we'd have Sat morn Maintenance Overtime 8 till 1. The Fitter would have the keys and we'd be have the factory to ourselves without bosses and women to mither us and we could get stuff done ( bring sarnies degs no canteen ) we could also mouch around the offices and stores to see what might not be missed.
At one we'd knock off and Eric the Fitter would say - 'follow me (on my trusty Lambretta TV200 - bored out to 225cc and a go fast carb...none of that 10 mirrors shight) we'll have a beer'.
He led me to The Bridge Inn which was still 'in the country' on the edge of Belle Vale then.
They poured me out the door at 5 30. God knows when Eric left, probably closing time.
