My late father by accident burnt my pay-packet after me coming back from a block week of training in Preston I put it on the fire pace unopened & he trew it on the coal fire £14 & I got the coins 75p -….never had one of these, started in the Civil Service in 1975 and even then we got paid by cheque. They did give staff an extra 30mins on our lunch to go and cash them
He told me to go to the DHSS & claim = no chance - my mates dad did the horses & told me to bet the 75p on a cert of a horse as he was always betting - no way it won at 20 - 1 doh ..... the 75p went on fuel for my motorbike to get to work - My Foreman told me he would book me in for overtime 2 hours per night & all day Saturday at the Nursery & called my dad a tight git ....
