I can't remember if I've repeated myself or not.
A six of chips for many years - 2 & 1/2p doubled when we went metric over night to 5 p - one shilling!
Chips on the Wirral were always of a superior quality, served up in the daily post.

For some reason I always ate mine a bit quicker when they were in the Express.(I'm from the Wirral our chippy owner was a Tory)
...'a six of chips' is a blast from the past, Joey. Mind you, I think we went decimal.
In our school we bought half tin loaf, took out the soft white bread leaving just the crust. Took the crust into the chippy and got it filled with chips and curry. The whole school were on it for years, white bread over the road but it was a truly lovely dinner. I could eat one right now.
Talking of lard if you ever played out as we were hard knocks and got a brick on our heads making a huge lump, running home crying - why did our mums or Nan's in that era -1960's rub some lard on the lump and we just went back out to play what the hell did that Lard do?lollol
