shame it was a good plan

Back in the early 70s the Ted Heath Govt...thinking it would never happen...got stung with that sort of deal - For all workers, iirc.
At one stage I was getting a pay rise a month.
I got in quick at the Building Soc. (The Burnley, long defunct - Mr Google tells me it became part of the Nat Provincial)
With 4 payslips and wangled an early form of Mortgage guarantee just before they revised their criteria?

Ted Heath the workers friend - who knew?

*holds hands up
In hindsight, being born on or a couple of years around that sweet spot of 1950 was the best start I could ever want.
...still had to use what natural talent I had  And weather a shedloads of 'Events'...most of which neither I, nor the various Govts. of the day, had no real control over.
