The muscles from Nigeria!!

Possibly a bad example, but England used Heskey the same way, and I'm damned sure that the Yak is a better player than he will ever be. We have a lot of talented attacking midfielders who can score the goals if he cannot find the net, but I'm confident he will, he's scored his entire career and it'll come back, a ruptured achilles doesn't affect your brain's knowledge of where the back of the net is.
It'd be nice to have Villa up front, but it just aint gonna happen.

I didn't want Heskey in the England side, either.

Scoring goals has been our main problem this year and that's because we're relying on our midfield and our strikers aren't doing their bit.

I won't jump back on the Yak bandwagon until he starts winning us points. Holding up the ball and running at defenses doesn't do that. Goals and assists do that. And he wasn't involved in either of ours (apart from almost getting Arteta's disallowed).

Best performance from him in ages but he needs a goal.Lets hope it happens at Spurs on Saturday and helps us up to 6th on Sat lunchtime.

imho there can be no one who can giv out bout YAKS performance yesterday yes he didnt score or as added above didnt set up the goals but that performance was top draw it can be gauranteed the RS def r sore this am if noticed when they had a free they didnt freely commit there defenders thats down to they had there hands full wit the YAK and Cahill

as i stated prev. the guy just needs a goal and when he does i think hes goin on a run

Didnt you just love it that Colin Murray had to compliment us last night, (through very gritted teeth)
All the MOTD2 pundits said the Yak was Immense.
Goals will come soon and we will see that celebration and smile before long.

First half anyway, he was out of this world, really fired up.

I was super impressed, he was like Amokachi on blue smarties.

He held the ball up, and played the ball to Bily for the corner which led to our second. So I'd argue he was.

And remember, whilst the ball's in their half, it's not in ours and subsequently Tim Howard can put his feet up. Best form of defense is offense and all that.

Good game for him to build up confidence, lets hope the performances will be repeated and he finds his scoring touch before too long. Because that is exactly what our game lacks a free scoring, free running forward.

We've seen glimmers though. He cracked a smart shot at Reina after his storming run (the one in which he flattened Meireles), and he was very unlucky against Fulham.

If he does manage to start banging them in again, dare I say he could be even better than before. Because I don't remember him ever playing as well as yesterday -- goals aside.

He definitely sorted his head out up those hills (last week) because I have to say he was superb yesterday.

I'd give him a pat on his muscle bound back after him charging down the entire RS defence like a battering ram (y)

He played the ball to our wide man who got tackled and won a corner that got headed out to the player who scored it?

Seriously? You're going with that?

Can I not claim credit too then for buying a ticket that paid for the money to buy the magic sponge that went on Arteta's knee and kept him fit so he could score the goal?

I was lucky enough to catch the game on a decent stream. The Yak destroyed Miereles and I cheered almost waking up my 5 month old. Yak really stepped it up yesterday and was what we needed him to be. MOTM for me.

That was a very creative pass and put Liverpool under pressure. We scored straight after it. It depends how you judge creativity, is a player only creative by making direct assists for players? What about the player who gets that player in a good position, or holds the ball up in the final third? Louis Saha scored goals in the first half of last season, sadly his hold up play was lacking, and the team wasn't getting good results.

He clearly helps the all round team play, that has been obvious throughout his time here, and over the last three games. He also has a good record of scoring goals, and has come close on a few occasions. Do you know off an injury that effects a players finishing ability? slowing players down, sure, I'm not sure about scoring goals though. Has the shape of his foot changed or something? He clearly can score goals, he did that last season, despite limited appearances.

I'd put it more down to confidence and lack of match sharpness personally.

Don't be such a pedant.

What I'm saying is that he more than played his part in a team game, and a great team performance. Compared to say, Saha, who sits around doing feck all but might chip in with a wonder strike. I'd rather have someone who pulls his weight, and offers more than just goals.

And if you can't see how well the Yak played, you're so blinkered it's unreal. Every single news outlet was giving him loads of praise, and high ratings. Now that's not always a precise or completely accurate barometer, as we know, but it's indicative that he at least had a good game.

All I'm saying is that people are going overboard about him. I still have the same doubts I had pre season and he'll need to show more than he has before I change my tune. He wasn't our best player on the pitch, he looked exhausted in the second half and offered us very little, and he didn't look too threatening in front of goal.

I'm not saying he won't start scoring goals again, I'm saying he hasn't done it yet and I'm not going to count my chickens until he does.

I still think a fit Saha is a better option.
