The Moyes influence on Everton.

Fellaini bought for 15m and sold for 27.5 is another example of Moyes quality at buying players and making Everton a profit.. But whilst that covered the cost of Lukaku.
Mcarthy and Mori were massively more expensive than Jelavic and Anichebe, let alone adding in Kone, Besic, Deulofeu etc

Martinez is spending money Moyes simply didn't have unless he sold players to get it.

First window received +19m
Second window spent -37m
Third window spent another -14m
51m out - 19m in = 32m net spend in three summers, whole different world in terms of the transfer policy since the tv money came in.
Made no money back at all in fact during the last two windows from player sales.

Worth noting if we had sold Stones, (another Moyes signing), we would of finished in the black so fair play to everyone involved for resisting that option.

Is it true though that Martinez is spending money Moyes didn't have?

So taking your "Moyes had a 32m net spend in first three summers", how does that compare?

Martinez is at £26m net.

As for Stones, Moyes said he wouldn't have bid on deadline day if Martinez hadn't. So.... (y)

Think we may have crossed wires.. Those figures were all Martinez. According to that site which correctly puts Lukaku at 28m for example.. Martinez has spent 32m net so far.
Was just underlying the point that Fellaini, Jelavic and Anichebe didn't cover the cost of players bought in.
If Moyes spent 32m net over 3 years I'd be very surprised.. and if so he spent the rest of his time here paying it back lol

As for the Stones thing.. a lot of excuses for Moyes buying.. he didn't play him etc.. wouldn't of bought him blah blah.. again wires crossed though.

It was actually a compliment to both Martinez and Kenwright for changing attitudes.. Previously he would of been sold to fund a transfer fee, now largely due to the increased money I assume, they managed to keep hold of him and still keep that level of spend up.. Its a good thing.

ps Moyes would of played Stones, maybe at right back for a while, but I trust Moyes eye for a defender above most. Barkley on the other hand, would probably have left by now.

Yes, when challenged why deadline day to sign a lad from Barnsley.

Said been watching him for a while, external factors meant we had to make a move.

Martinez trying to sneak through a deal quickly on deadline day...

I read an article recently from the scout who recommended John Stones to Everton. He said that he really pushed hard for the club to sign the player, that David Moyes was in favour , but not strongly so and all the other coaches at that time were firmly against. On deadline day as John Stones was driving to Wigan the agent rang David Moyes and told him where the player was going and this was their last chance to sign him.
Moyes made " an executive " decision to sign the player, Stones was rerouted to Everton and the rest is history.
So, it appeared that most of the coaching staff at that time didn't see the potential.

But then, neither did the coaching staff from any other club apart from ,ironically, a club managed by Roberto Martinez.
