I’m not directing it at you Pete. I’m not sure I have?I don’t think you do, and I don’t think ‘black’ before ’vandal’ as you are desperately trying to get into the conversation. Racism is not just about ‘black’ and ‘white’ and if that is what you think then perhaps it is you that requires further understanding of racism.
Have a look at this and give me your views....

I find it weird that people are more upset with vandalism than racism. And I think the idea of people becoming more racist or racist when they otherwise wouldn’t have been because of vandalism is evidence that there are inherent biases on account of race. Which is a form of racism.
Leaving aside the vandalism as a form of protest debate (as I’ve not made up my mind on it yet), I hate violence and distraction.
Destruction for the sake of destruction is offensive to me. I’m sure there were a minority of people who attended the protests recently that were there just for the sake of destruction. And those people are d**kheads. I can appreciate vandalism as a genuine form of protest (particularly when other forms of peaceful protest have not worked. Same with looting. I can understand the rationale (whether I agree with it or not). But destruction for the sake of it and not to make a point is abhorrent.
That being said, the fact that a vandal may be a person of colour would not make me think it badly of a race. It’s not a reflection of every person of colour. It wouldn’t make me more inclined to be racist. I would just think what a d**khead.
I can accept why people would hate vandals more because of it. I’m not accepting it as an excuse to be racist. Because it’s not.
thank you for the link. I’ve been reading a lot about it recently and I think it’s important for people to understand these things and educate themselves.
