I can’t believe you’re having to explain this to be honest.

I'm still boggled that Ben Bradely wrote that whole twitter thread despite, clearly, having never read the book. Imagine being a member of the party of government and tweeting about everything getting like 1984 and then saying it's THEM who are engaged in doublethink.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or where to put it but anyways. These sort of stories surely refute the notion that institutional racism doesn’t exist in this country.

Replace the two murdered women with two pretty blondes and you’d have front page news up and down the country with a huge police effort to catch the killers. Most people would never have even heard of this case.

I don't remember the police, footballers or politicians ‘Taking the knee’ for Lee Rigby and ‘Soldiers Lives Matter’......
 
1984 is a weird one.

Most people who quote 1984 hasn't actually read 1984 and what they say tends to be more relevant to Animal Farm. Another book they haven't read.
