I personally wouldn't boo it - but BLM IS a political movement, whilst it has an anti racist message it still is a political movement (in the US largely) and calls for things such as defunding the police which for me at a time of Tory austerity cuts is a bonkers thing to be suggesting when front line services have already been cut to the bone.

The League has enough anti racist campaigns such as kick it out to not need to continue with taking the knee - it was understandable at first but now as Les Ferdinand said its becoming an empty gesture.

We going to keep doing it for how long? 1, 3, 5, 10 years?
This was discussed in one of the other US political threads a while back, but I’ll reiterate it here. The calls to “defund the police” will go down as one of the all time great failures of branding. Aside from a few fringe lunatics who truly have called to “abolish” the police, the main thrust of the “defund” movement was always more about a thorough examination of how government funds are allocated, assessing whether police are being asked to do too much, and finding other, more workable solutions for some areas such homelessness and mental health related concerns. Better messaging would have likely allowed both the BLM protestors and the police to find some badly needed common ground, but instead it became a wedge issue that further inflamed an already terrible situation.

Hopefully the booing knocks sense into the FA. The point has been made now and hopefully any prejudice against black people is over.

It can't go on forever

I genuinely dont mate I'll be honest im always arsing around making a drink and usually miss the first few minutes of the games anyway so barely ever see it.

Whilst I support the anti racist message im fundamentally against any kind of politics/religion movements or messages in football and for me if you allow BLM messages then let the Old Firm carry on with their sectarian war or Pep with his Catalonian Independence dresswear I'll be the first to pop down to Goodison with a "vote Starmer" banner but long term I dont think it would make football a more enjoyable experience certainly not in terms of violence between already partisan fans.

You seem more arsed about these things more than anyone on the forum tbh mate. What's worse do you reckon, a few players taking a knee or Millwall fans booing it? What are the respective motivations of both parties' actions in your honest opinion ?

My initial point was mate is yes a good portion of clowns who boo it will likely be racist (especially if its Millwall) but not everyone who is against it is necessarily a racist. I wouldn't be shocked if a poll was done tomorrow the majority would no longer want it but that doesn't make the majority of the PL viewers racist.

I'll likely be called racist for that but fair enough my conscience is clear on that but we live in a populist society where the media tells you what you are or are not based on what your opinions are on something.

I aint religious by any stretch but I believe if there is a God then let him be the judge and not Malcolm from Twitter with his 38 subscribers.

E
Eh? I never said they were.
I'm saying one is far more apparant than the other.

We are in a time when everything is now broadcast around the world. So the take the knee aspect is broadcast whereas laces is a minor addition if it's not pointed out.

Hell change the message of take the knee. Have it stand for more than just BLM , use it as a sign of unity against everything and print that message everywhere. Just be more vocal about fighting against these things.

If we are going to continue to do a ore match solidarity thing, include more into that message and try and raise the other issues that absolutely have to be raised.

They're kneeling. It's not hurting anyone. Even if only a portion of the people booing are racist to some degree (and I suspect there are very few other reasons for booing players who are making a small statement in solidarity against discrimination), that's precisely why they are kneeling.

It's great that you want to believe the best of chumps who are going to the trouble of booing a small and well intentioned gesture, but it's genuinely astonishing to me that you and others think that the players are at fault and need to pack it in

It annoys you because you're a racist bellend. Doesn't annoy us. Because they're kneeling for a few seconds and anyone who is annoyed by that needs a good hard look at themselves

Fair enough as I said we all think we are entitled to judge our fella man who we dont know from adam based on an opinion on one aspect of life (shock horror I could be a black man for all you know!)

Water off a ducks back for me lid if the almighty agrees with your assessment then im banged to rights but until that day comes its your opinion in an ocean of many.
