That's a shame.
Each to their own, mate. I'm an Everton fan cos my dad is (and he is from Liverpool) but I was not born there, and apart from a rather disappointing 3 years at uni there (no fault of the city per se, but it certainly clouds your perception) I have no affinity or affiliation to the city at all. But I was an Everton fan long before I even knew about the city of Liverpool, let alone the politics that consume it.

My political views have been formed much like everyone elses; parental influence, the news, locally and nationally, peers, musical and film icons etc. The political lean of the city of the club I support didn't even appear on that list, as I doubt it would for many who are not born & bred Liverpudlian.

Oh, and @Seanjd further to the above, I actually voted Labour at the last GE on matters of personal and local issues. So in fact I am capable of voting Labour, but certainly not because of the city of Liverpool.

There's no requirement for a fan of a football club to have any link or affinity to the town/city in which that club is located. There are myriad reasons for supporting a club. And therefore is perfectly possible, and acceptable, for an Everton fan to be a Tory voter.

Absolutely. It's up to you. The vast majority of the fanbase will dislike you because of it though.

I don't care about the city of Liverpool though. And I don't think I have to in order to be a fan of Everton Football Club.

Ah.

Kinell Cowboy.

Talk about dropping down in someone's estimation.

No one on 21k a year should really be using foodbanks barring real unfortunate personal misfortune. I earn substantially less, and yes I have to budget and cut things out at times, but I can cope more than fine.

@The Cowboy I'm not sure how you cannot care about the city which gives it's football team it's identity. The first thing managers and decent players do when they come to our team is to identify with the city and it's people. Like it or not, our city has everything to do with our club, and vise verse, and our club's heritage is richer for it.

By saying you don't care about the city, are you also saying you don't care about all of the fantastic things EiiC does to support causes in the city?

Liverpool is the one of the most successful sporting cities in the world, and the city is synonymous with football. Your comment baffles me.
