Last election, I was aching to support Labour, cos I cant stand Johnson. But their whole Brexit position was just daft. (It was the Brexit election, lets not forget that). And Johnson was the only leader trying to get the constipated HOC to have a much needed dump.

And its similar with Starmer. I literally havnt a clue what he is on about, or what he is doing.

Son was just telling me out with friends, ( he's 26) that girl who was with them Labour supporter all her young life, didn't know who Starmer was, that says it all really.

But that said, Farage did connect with actual fears/issues/whatever for enough people to be exercised. Whatever the rights and wrongs of Brexit, that is undeniable.

I said it a few days ago, to dogs abuse; if the Labour Party dont understand why tons of folk like, or at least warm to Johnson, they really should consider who they are listening to.

It's why nothing sticks to him. Tell people he's a liar, a horrible person etc. etc. and they respond with "yeah we know and don't care."

Rightly or wrongly, people seem to like that they know what they're getting with him. It's the exact same phenomenon that enabled Trump.

People have been conditioned to accept the abhorrent. With the 'woke' screaming hysterically about each and every little stupid thing, day after day, people have fired back against it with their vote.

The constant moaning caused substantial self-harm to all progressive causes due to a complete inability to cherry pick issues of actual importance and show restraint on others for maximum impact. Instead, it's all white noise now - it's why the Tory sleaze stuff made no impact; nobody gives a toss because you moan about absolutely everything so they've been trained not to listen.

Johnson isn't a phoney - he's quite transparent in what he is. A self serving egotist who only cares about personal power and believes his class have a right to rule.

People know this. They don't care. Because they believe the alternative is anarchy due to a completely useless opposition. They don't see any viable alternative.

You're half right. It is a completely useless opposition. However, these mill town nazis are voting strategically:

1/ many of them are bigots and they see the Tories and The Murderer in particular as reflecting their bigotry
2/ many of them have fallen for the Tory Pork Barrel con-trick that they'll get cash for jobs, services and houses. They wont.

People who disagree with them and their policies are 'Nazis' and 'Bigots' (and therefore racists).

Tax breaks for businesses, free-port status in some Red Wall places, planning restrictions lowered. Then they have to attract trade there.

That'll be the Tory 'Pork Barrel'. The private sector will receive encouragement to set up there but there'll be no sacks of cash sent to them.
