So this is what you were getting at rather than an idea of elitism? What exactly, then is the Islington thought process and political ideology as separate from Marxism, say?

You have the leaders of a movement based in London, such as Corbyn, McDonnell et al, directing traffic to general 'believers' in the grassroots who identify as 'socialists'.

Similar to how Lenin/Trotsky in Islington and the Bolshevist movement. In fact, very similar - again it comes down to revolution against reform; it worked in the early 20th century in Russia, it doesn't work now because the poor and working class are in no way whatsoever the same in the UK. People don't want revolution; they want structured reform.

Interesting read that. Germany's social democrats are in a bad place at the moment. Probably hasn't helped being in government for 8 of the last 12 years with the conservatives. The Greens seem to have replaced them as the country's 2nd main party.

I didn't have a huge issue with Corbyns manifesto. To me many of his policies seemed quite reasonable. Some of them are policy in several European countries.

Nothing wrong with being aspirational and wanting to do well for yourself. You could still do that under a Corbyn government whilst as a society we narrow the gap in inequality.

Right now I have no idea what Starmer stands for.

I'm sorry, what do you mean by directing traffic to general 'believers' and how did they do this? You keep saying revolution most of the changes Labour suggested in their manifesto weren't that revolutionary.

By being the leaders of a radical left Labour party at the time.

And they didn't successfully hide their true intent behind manifesto policy - the public knew the score with Corbyn.

Exactly this.
The sooner they realise that the only thing any working class person wants is
not to be working class they just might have a chance.

How were they directing traffic anymore than leaders of any other political party did? They, unsurprisingly, had quite an influence on the party's policy but that's not exclusive to 'Islington' mindsets.

Ah 'the public knew the score' did they? Quite a convenient get out there

Would not expect an opposition to push it's general election policy so early in a term. However, Public relations and and marketing is what cost Cornyn dearly, Starmers team seem just as useless at it.

It's swings and roundabouts though isn't it? We also get the expertise of many migrants and that's what's kept this country a vibrant nation as far as arts and the sciences and entrepreneurism is con cerned. And not all of them come into this country with the qualifications to do those jobs, so quotas based on a points system is a crude tool.

We take the rough with the smooth. As we always have done. The net givers and the net takers. Twas ever thus...until Brexit and a numb nuts brand of Tory populism persuaded millions that they are hard done by through migrants rather than the bent and exploitative political economy they were born into.

Not more immigrants, no it's worse the REFUGEE...
