Corbyn’s base wasn’t ‘cult like’ in my opinion. They were/are just people who were happy to hear some left wing, mainstream political discourse for a change.
Starmer has astoundingly succeeded in appealing to absolutely no-one. I really thought he was a decent choice to begin with
There is/was definitely an element of politicised fandom about those that followed Corbyn and many observers did describe this as a cult-like following. That said there are pockets of these types everywhere including all sides of the political spectrum.

Possibly but I can only go by who i know I guess. I have several mates who joined the Labour Party due to Corbyn but would never claim he was without faults or anything. Admittedly the Glastonbury chanting etc was very embarrassing

Probably was some fandom going on BUT people support someone they like who is under a lot of fire often unfairly. It’s not that unusual.
It was always mind boggling that the Tories used to be so angry about this when the way they adore Thatcher, Johnson, Rees Mogg often came across as much more unquestioning

And then there’s the New Labour love-ins for Blair

Like many political leaders, Corbyn misinterpreted the adulation at party rallies and yoof events, as universal approval.

The 2019 general election saw Labour lose 61 seats, and Corbyn resigned accordingly.

What happened in 2017?

Johnson has just presided over 126,000 people losing their lives to a virus he personally had a major part in failing to protect us all from. However...

....Forensic.

The Tories got their highest share of the vote since 1983 - with Theresa May as leader. I'll repeat that, Theresa May as leader.
Lol.

In an election they were due to lose by 20 percentage points, Labour under Corbyn won the largest increase in the share of the vote by a Labour leader since Clement Attlee in 1945 and gained 30 seats, while the Tories lost 13.

Labour gained 31 seats, yes.

But JC Failed to get elected as PM on 2 separate occasions.
2017 he dragged the LP back from the non-contenders which Brown and Miliband had left them as by appealing beyond being the Tory second XI; the 2019 GE was all about Brexit...a second referendum.

Simple as that.

Starmer was at the heart of the LP 2019 election defeat, and he'll be front and centre at the 2024 defeat too.

Lol.

If the party leader hadn't been 'present but not involved' in Labour's Brexit deliberations it wouldn't have been left to the man that same party leader appointed as Shadow Brexit Minister to come up with something. If Corbyn didn't agree with the policy he only had to open his mouth.

Failure of leadership.

Simple as that.

Regarding 2024, I thought you'd predicted Starmer would be gone in 6 months. Perhaps I'm mixing you up with someone else.

Not 6 months from the start of his leadership, 6 months from when I stated it. 6-12 months I stated.

The opinion polls will continue to slide and Starmer will be ousted to avoid a scism which sees another party formed to the LPs left.

As for Corbyn: I never siad he was a great leader. I said he did very well in 2017. Anyone sayin g he didn't is a classless fool.
