The fact that you believe - in the middle of a deadly virus brought about by his political opponents - that attacking Corbyn is useful is quite appalling judgement.

Yes, how dare he campaign for peace and justice. Why cant he be corrupt (or complicit with the corrupt) like others?
That first line is one for the ages.

I'll leave it at that.

Thanks for that, very interesting!
I'm not sure about aspiration, more self absorbed imo.

I'm sure the leopards will pop around Legoland some time soon.
Yes, I guess so. Aspirational is perhaps just a glossier version of the same thing.
For my parents and that post war generation “Getting On” was, perhaps understandably, a national obsession.

Some of our citizens aspire to get reliable clean drinking water to the poor of other countries, some aspire to help the homeless and others aspire to improve the ecology of our country. What particular aspiration is being described?

Starmer has the same problem as Kinnock. Nothing much changes. The average man or woman in the street is more aspirational than revolutionary.

The problem is what is classed as aspirational. The country may well have been cursed by Thatcher's ideal of what aspiration is. Potentially more likely a country that isn't fond of thinking of alternative solutions or ideas.

The balance between aspiration and selfishness is a fine one.

Indeed, and it’s a mistake (one that Corbyn made as well as other Labour leaders) to not recognise this, or assume they couldn’t compete with Tory proposals on this front.

Housing for example; they could have announced a massive building programme of social housing with a means of tenants buying it and it would have appealed to loads of people.

I'm not sure what Starmer actually stands for he hasnt said, or if he did I missed it.
And I'm not sure the General Public know nor care just now either.
Foot > Kinnock Vs Thatcher, Major, Blair
Corbyn > Starmer Vs Johnson, whoever rolls Johnson, 'new' 'New Labour'

Busby > McGuiness
Ferguson > Moyes
Starmer is the reverse version, just a place holder until the wheel turns...as it always does...and the the new SAF, Blair comes along.
So I ddon't suppose it really matters what he stands for, because noboffy is liddtening until the next election

Wouldn’t have made any difference in the last election. Not even sure the last time a party manifesto or policy proposal had made any difference in an election. (Ignoring Labour’s proposals for Brexit in the last one)

Once the boffies start liddtening there'll be no stopping Starmer!

Joking aside politicking no must be almost impossible, or at least feel that way for those in Westminster as people are consumed by the pandemic, lockdowns, and vaccines.

If the vaccine programme is a success and both sides don't come out swinging, particularly Starmer and co, then they really will be little point in them standing as opposition.

Dave will have seen the future and know exactly what everyone needs to do but I'm just going to bide my time, watch and listen.

Starmer should be setting his stall out now for what sort of country we want to be. The problem will be if, in two or three years, just before an early election, he starts pushing the Labour agenda. It needs to be now, and it needs to be radical. Otherwise Labour are out of power and the Tories, the centrists, and their supporters can keep laughing as the poorest keep getting hit

The people who believe there was a 'cult of Corbyn' were actually in a cult themselves

Alan Johnson's interview on LBC being a perfect example. Still more interested in picking fights with the membership than bringing the party back together. They don't have any serious policies other than to blame the left for everything.
