Current Affairs The Labour Party

I grew up in poverty so I know more than most about how crap some families have it - but that doesn't mean I turn my nose up at realistic policies to help as many as possible because a group like momentum promise the world with no realistic way of delivering it.

Corbyn bouncing around Westminster like he's Che Guevara may convince some middle class students that he has all the answers but he's proven to be a busted flush when it truly counted.

And now we have a credible candidate in Starmer who has a good chance to rid us of Tory Rule you have Momentum and their ideological stooges trying to sabotage from within showing no respect towards Sir Keir's 10 pledges.

Its scandalous.

What policies did Labour have no way of delivering? Momentum had no way of delivering anything because they aren't a political party.

Suggesting Corbyn acted like Che Guevara makes you sound very, very silly. It doesn't even work as hyperbole.

What exactly would Starmer's policies do that would lead a child in poverty out of poverty? And how would it break the Tory control or reverse their policies?

I was neither particularly pro-Corbyn, nor am I wildly anti-Starmer (met him and liked him) but your comments are so wildly off base

Ah, the incredibly simplistic narrative of Corbyn coming from middle-class beginnings in N16, and so therefore couldn't be the face of social democracy is getting incredibly tiresome. All policies from the previous two manifestos would've made the lives of the British working class objectively better in every metric. They were voted on by the Labour membership, a broad coalition of members of society but who are mostly working-class with significant links to any remaining collectivist movements.

When it comes to the claim that they were no way deliverable, the leaked report (which I cannot believe hasn't been made more of) into the culture within the PLP articulated it perfectly when it said that he wasn't electable primarily due to the spineless, careerist neoliberals (Emilie Oldknow, Iain McNicol etc.) who wouldn't allow him to be electable, and who would rather return to the old ways of the LP where they can continue on existing within the economic framework founded by Thatcher-Reaganism, ignoring the growing calls for the significant wealth redistribution that's necessary to help the generation(s) of people who haven't had any such luck of benefitting from a 400-500% asset value inflation during the '90s & early '00s, when the myth of a property-owning democracy was still alive...

It's going to be comical watching the torturer's friend instructing all his MPs to vote to back a Tory deal to take the UK out of the EU. The architect of Labour's election losing anti-Brexit campaign voting to take a deal to leave the EU - or even abstaining on the vote. Hilarious.

An utter charlatan.

Read wealth of nations. Take all the change out your pocket, place in steaming hot water and breath in the fumes. Sack your gardener.
Is there a pop up version? In the mean time my sinuses haven’t been so clear for ages, but I’ve taken out a constructive dismissal case on myself for my firing. Will be linking to my crowdfunding for that later.

Very much one step forward two steps back I feel.

The torturer's friend speaking today saying a Labour Government under him will be the friend to private business and promote aspiration.

It's like listening to Thatcher in 1979.

The LP membership voted this fraud to be leader. Shame on them.

A LP leader during a period the Tories have cratered the ecoonomy and caused massive death should be 15-20% clear of the Tories in polls; in fact, the LP are trailing them!!

He's going to get even worse too: this upcoming EU vote will show him up for the fraud he is.
It's annoying personally, I thought he had the potential to provide a more credible and structured approach to a social Labour party.

I posted because he's peeling off Tory 2019 voters (like some of the 'always vote Labour but not Corbyn' on here), and losing the Labour ones.

It isn't possible to have a sensible debate here, if you are using language like this. A sensible debate might actually result in you persuading someone to change their mind, you should consider if you want that.

He still does; all that’s been exposed as completely false is that shameful criticism of the right that claimed Corbs was uniquely bad and anyone else would have been 20 points ahead.

The papers will of course never give any Labour leader a fair go unless they are willing to go along with what the owners want, and the Tories are already doing this to a far greater extent than Labour could (or should). So it comes to the question of what he should do about it; personally I think he should do what Miliband did and take them on.
