You're a smart guy mate but you've been hoodwinked by Momentum and the like to believe anyone in the party who doesn't subscribe to their extreme brand of Socialism/Liberalism is a Red Tory.
As I said New Labour is the best you've ever had yet you actively support Momentum's attempts at thwarting the Parties chances at the next election of returning to those golden days therefore resulting in more Tory rule and austerity cuts.
Its bonkers to me.
There needs to be a balance.
I think Corbyn and Momentum had a lot of good (moral) policies, but the state they've left the Labour party in is dreadful. Whether Starmer's the man to fix it... I don't know. I don't know enough about him to judge, can only see how he fares in the next election (if he makes it that far).
Corbyn's Labour was unelectable. They succeeded in nothing except preaching to the choir, and while I have no doubt at all that Corbyn isn't an antisemite - I think he's a genuinely good bloke even if I don't agree with all of his views - unfortunately he did nothing to stamp out the examples of antisemitism in the party during his leadership.
They went up against the worst Tory governments in decades on two separate occasions, and lost. The second time, they lost by a landslide - and I've voted Labour in every election.
People need to understand that Momentum's message does not chime with the vast majority of your 'typical' Labour voter - it's why so many traditional Labour areas swung to the Tories last year, and I suppose in those areas Brexit will have been a massive issue (again, something Corbyn and the party seemed to contradict each other on at every opportunity).
So there has to be a mix. Most of their policies may well be sound but the way they went about it was (is?) arrogant and self-righteous. The example is just to call voters in those areas I make examples of 'thick', or 'racist'.
What annoys me is if we had even a semblance of a united/strong Labour party over the last 3 years (since the 2017 election), I think we'd be in a much better position now, whether in regards to general political status or dealing with the pandemic.
