Corbyn is also right when he’s says the problem was over exaggerated for politics gain within the part.

yeah, think this is right. The report sets out leadership failings, which fall squarely on his shoulders, but the fact that the report found 2 instances of unlawful discrimination, shows that it was a relatively small number of serious offences. But from a strategic point of view, now isn’t the time for Corbyn or the Labour Party to be downplaying the bad bits, as it gives a terrible perception of not accepting responsibility for the failings identified.

The statement from Gideon Falter (Campaign Against Antisemitism) is particularly ugly, and reeks of score-settling.

“The debate is over. Under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, the Labour party became institutionally antisemitic..... Jeremy Corbyn and those around him who took part in or enabled the gaslighting, harassment and victimisation of Britain’s Jewish minority are shamed for all time".

The report says exactly the opposite of that.

Starmer knows he has to sound tough, but he knows any attempt to move against Corbyn and the left in the LP (the vast majority of the 600,000 membership) means all out civil war.

And as many of his inquisitors there today pointed out: he was part of the leadership that the witch trial conducted by the EHRC were saying had acted unlawfully.

He's snookered.

But all in all this was a bogus charge against the Corbyn led LP and the fact there was no charge of institutional ant-semitism underlines it.

All empty words from Starmer. He was at the top of the Labour Party under Corbyn and continued to serve so what does that say about him if he truly does believe Labour was/is rotten to the core with antisemitism?

Leaving aside my position that this whole AS business is a complete fabrication designed to smear a left wing led LP for a second: he looked exposed on that today. And he looked incredibly weak when asked about individual's being disciplined.

In reality he is in a bind. He has his PLP to back him up...mostly right wing neo-liberals who back reactionary policies that he backs, but the membership is over half a million strong and for the most part would see an attack on Corbyn as an attack on themselves and there would be mayhem in the party if the leadership moved against the membership.

What it says is;
1) Starmer knew/knows there wasn't a major issue of A/S
2) Starmer is also a chancer who will change is tune to what he needs at a given moment
3) Starmer wants to bury the left, so will jump on any bandwagon that helps in this regard.

I mean whatever is thought on this issue, the idea it emerged and then ceased to exist on the premiership on Corbyn is for the birds.
