Bailey taken to being asked to stepdown by Starmer is very professional. Can see a way back for her. Such a difference with how Johnson not dealing with Cummings and Jenrick.
Starmer showed her some respect by putting her on his front bench and he may even rate her - she can definitely come back if there is a politician there. I've not seen that there is tbh but having to step up and represent the vacuum of Corbynology wasn't kind to her. I mean prime Blair couldn't polish that turd. It was asking a lot of a young politician.

No, early days Blair could charm the birds from the trees but Starmer is nothing like that. In fact Starmer is dull and boring but looks good as he is against an idiot leader who is losing trust daily.
I am not his biggest fan but he is doing the right things if we ever want a labour Government in power again, basically let Boris cock up, we have had an open goal in the last two GE and messed it up by backing a man the masses could not get behind and a party not in touch with its own heartlands.
People thinking a far left party is ever going to win a GE are just doing the tories job for them giving them an easy win in the ballot box, and unfortunately as responsible as a tory supporter for giving us a Boris led government.
My natural instincts are for a left leaning government but its a pipe dream unless we play the game and get in to power.

“A man the masses could not get behind” - what the truth is here is that the masses were convinced that they couldn’t.

Look at your next sentence where you claim they were a far left party, something that was repeated so often people ended up believing it.

What is worse is that they still believe it even though how British politics has developed since (Starmer winning in a landslide, the Government doing several things that were in the Labour manifesto and conducting interventions in the economy far above what Labour were proposing etc) should show everyone that such a statement is absolute nonsense.

Corbyn was a left wing Labour leader; that’s it.

The ballot box is all the proof you need or really matters ,all the surveys in the world saying he did a good job the policy was correct ect mean nothing, there were that many policy announcements near the end did anybody have a clue what was really on offer.
Boris walked to an easy win , and most knew it was going to happen .
The working class got let down by a ideological bunch of losers who offerd nothing but defeat and a Tory government nothing to be proud about.
Should have learned from the 2 elections before , but didn't, if they dont take on board change now they are finished as a party that can ever govern ,they need a wider appeal and a different approach to the last 3 GE.
Boris is a gift in the long run , he is dangerous and will cock up its a cert, even the handling of this pandemic is a shambles , give him a year or two and the Tories will be looking to the next man or woman to lead them , he will get undermined from within ,the labour party needs to be seen as a stable alternative to take advantage of that when the time comes.
More of the same will not be good enough.

This is the argument I have with a Corbynite mate of mine all the time, he doesn’t accept that you cannot succeed in politics just by having the right policies.

Sadly what matters more in our political system is what the general public think of you and your party, not what the reality is.

This is just you repeating slogans, edge.

I was saying loads of people turned away from Labour because of what they’d heard about them. A lot of what they’d heard about them was wrong.

What I would love to see is some recognition that people were lied to (and that they understand they were lied to) - otherwise instead of what you claim here, we will be in four years time all watching the same posters make the same arguments that Labour is out of touch, doesn’t represent real people, “I am centre left and I wish I had a party that could represent me instead of these extremists”, Starmer is a bit weird and did you hear he was soft on peados? and so on.

Which is a fairly damning state of affairs, isn’t it?

Also it should concern anyone who understands how public perceptions are formed.
