Done better than I expected, though its been against a government that is somehow managing to sink lower and lower on a daily basis - though even I am astonished by that Jenrick thing.

By ‘better than expected’, you must have had really low expectations.....

not really, but then again if you think the Government has been doing fantastically ill bow to your greater knowledge of really low expectations

I think the Government have been awful. But whereas you regard the government as Boris and few ministers, I regard the government as the Cabinet, Cabinet Office, the CS, PHE and NHS in all this. The only government dept to play a decent game was the MoD...

It's the Tories. They have made this whole mess and people who voted for it should have known they were ill suited to govern.

Labour need to take down a couple of high profile Tories now in order to make an inquiry stick.

They've had two golden opportunities with HanCOCK and Cummings; they were there waiting to be fired. Starmer though wants to show how 'responsible' he is.

He's not the man for the times we live in. His 'forensic' questioning will very soon be a source of weakness for him as more people realise how ineffectual it is against a hard nosed government who simply dont give a flying one about debate and details...and a country whose people couldn't give a flying one about them either.

Cap in hand gets kick in teeth.

Time for this stuffed shirt Starmer to find some courage and start swinging.

Can't see ring fencing the blue rincers round the flag will be any use, in fact it would galvanise the Tory and it's press. A wonderful spectacle telegraph and mail tearing lumps out of Johnson, keep the rats in the sack.

As much as I hate a lot of the posturing that goes around government, and the game playing, it really doesn't seem like there is much to be gained by tearing in to the Tories when they're doing it themselves.

Newsnight tonight:

as per usual the murderous government refuse to provide a Minister for the show - this time in order to defend their easing of the lockdown. However, Labour also refused to provide a shadow Minister to discuss it.

WTF?!

What sort of stand back, cowardly organisation is this nobhead Starmer trying to create?

They should be seizing any opportunity to tear a strip off the butchers who have murdered 63,000 of our people and who now want to smash the lockdown and create a second wave.

That's just not happening though.

Apart from the gushing BS about Starmer, this is bang on the money about Labour's failure so far to provide a vision on Covid19 rather than just making the odd barbed comment on Johnson's incompetence.

What's really grinding my gears with Starmer and his team at the moment is the cowardice in failing to condemn the easing (in reality, evaporation) of the lockdown even though the first wave of the virus is still very much with us.

Starmer's front bench have abdicated their responsibility as an opposition party, and they'll be shouldering some of the blame when the country is back to April levels of mortality for Covid19.

Not good enough from "Mr Forensic", not good enough by a long chalk.
