Since Wilson/Callaghan of 1974 Labour's only success has been the Tony Blair regimes known as "tory lite". The lesson is middle of the road UK only accepts socialism in a nice suit and shiny shoes scruff bag hectoring from "overage student" looking bells don't cut it

Great days the 70s us scousers were bang in the middle of it with wild cat strikes at Fords, the docks and elsewhere. It's one of the reasons we have such a crap reputation these days. Loved being a school kid on the packed 93 bus listening to pished up dockers loudly declaring Reg Maudling was hanging out of Ted Heath's arse. The silence amongst the rest of the passengers was deafening. Marvellous

It does but even if we were to it´s still a ridiculous ask. We haven´t won an election without Scotland returning 40+ Labour MPs before. I just can´t see where those votes come from across the country right now.

It is, but the Scottish example just show the importance of actually doing something rather than just paying lip service to what those constituents were saying.

Don’t forget that a lot of the growth in the party after Corbyns election did not happen there, thanks to Dugdale insisting on Scots control of Scottish Labour and none of its problems being fixed.

But will the working class towns that voted Brexit accept that form of socialism now? I don´t think the days where we could rely on their support are coming back any time soon unfortunately.

John McDonnell and Diane Abbott. Judge a man by the company he keeps. Basically.
In terms of all these connections from his past, Jeremy Corbyn either possesses terrible judgement over the company he keeps, actively supports some really rather rum sorts, is monumentally unlucky or stupid enough not to believe it matters that there's a photo of you (to give one example) and the former military commander of the IRA in Parliament, two weeks after his friends have tried to murder the incumbent of the office you now aspire to.

None of which are desirable traits in a Prime Minister

You remember it different than me mate.

I remember the blackouts, three day weeks, crap music and the worst clothes of all time.

No, I am saying that Momentum are socialists.

Putting all manner of descriptions beforehand - hard left, extreme, fringe, cultish or whatever - is just daft, especially as 99% of people don’t understand what socialism actually is.

and they are, they’ll all have their different interpretations on how to overthrow the establishment. And IIRC there was issues with Trotskyism in momentum not to long ago as well as younger Marxist group

A draft of her drink. “How can you trust a man,” growled the grandmother-of-two, “who doesn’t know when the Queen’s speech is on Christmas day?”

The tiny things that stick with people.

I lived near Workington when I worked at Sellafield. It's the worst place on earth. Where hope goes to die. The only restaurant is a steakhouse on an industrial estate. The local paper did a two page spread when they got a Costa. They closed the cinema to open a Spoons.

You are either old enough to remember the 70's or not. If you remember them but were quite a bit younger than me your memories should have been Chopper Bikes, Byker Grove and Wizard.lol

I had a Chipper, than graduated onto a Chopper !!!

Byker Grove was later than the 70`s - otherwise Ant and Dec would be hitting 60 by now lol
