I've no real interest in the topic mate, but the state was created after the Holocaust to provide a safe place. That does kinda make it different to the UK.

No it wasn't. It is a common thing to believe, but it really is more about the Israeli state being created by the Israelis and then the West building a narrative as to why it happened out of the (relatively few) facts that it felt it could use, rather than acknowledging the full reasons why the state came into being.

For a start, you do not create a safe place on the worlds favourite invasion route, when literally every other state surrounding the place would (and did try to) happily stomp it into the ground if they had the ability to do so. Secondly a lot of the migration and work by Zionists (which is the correct use of the word) and supporters happened long before the Holocaust; in fact long before Hitler came to power.

In fact, if you want to look at this phenomenon of selective history then there is no better example than the British - Israeli relationship, which seems to have (here at least) completely forgotten the fact that within living memory, despite our not insignificant role in defeating the Nazis generally, we had to deal with years of a very nasty terrorist campaign that cost nearly 340 British soldiers and about 600 others their lives. Some of the people responsible then went on to commit what would have been deemed as war crimes - ethnic cleansing, massacres, communal attacks on quite a considerable scale and over a couple of decades - if anyone would have been bothered.

There is also an anti Zionist movement within Israel itself led by Jewish clerics who condemn the ethnic cleansing taking place. I guess they must be anti Semitic too.
Exactly.

I;m surprised this issue has been returned to as 'controversial'. It quite simply is accepted terminology.

The actual politics is irrelevant. Momentum are a mad gang of wide eyed devotees for surveillance and promoting the leadership's message. Have you tried a debate with momentum? In my local labour party to even disagree with them sees you decried as a dirty Tory. There is no discussion. No alternative view. It's the hard left or be excluded.

I encounter this on here every day tbh.....

Any Labour MP that votes for this deal should get the sack.
In all sincerity, why? It’s looking more unlikely that the EU will offer an extension, likely to be prompted by the PM, so then what. No Deal? Staying in?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a far from perfect deal and in hindsight I suspect many would have preferred a different course, but I suspect it’s the only avenue.

Only 6 Labour Judas's for that Letwin amendment.

The delay will have the effect of handing enough time to look at that 'deal' and for any other LP potential traitors to think again. The deal is rank for workers and consumer rights and the environment. That'll be hammered home in the next few days.

if he does refuse to send the extension letter, I’d be amazed if any of those six back him
