The people of Brecon must be sociopaths then. 4th place in the by-election.

Professor Roger Awan-Scully, the head of politics and international relations at Cardiff University: “There’s lots of dissatisfaction with Jeremy Corbyn, lots of dissatisfaction with the direction of the party. In its ultimate historic bastion of Wales I think Labour is in some serious trouble.”
But Mainstream Media, Yellow Tories, 2017!

The problem is that Corbyn cannot admit to mistakes. It took 3 years for any peep of what the stance towards Brexit really was, arguably when it was far too late. He maintains Diane Abbot in a prominent role despite her being a constant punchline for inadequacy. Having John McDonnell as a Chancellor would punish the middle earner for some completely hair brained schemes. The presumed deputy leader is a man who violated centuries of criminal justice by declaring a man guilty of a crime before an investigation had taken place and even used parliamentary privilege to do so.

People don’t want to vote for Corbyn because he presents himself as a shambles and his motley crew are no better than the current mess.

Typical chat by an educated professor who is fundamentally a fool, good grief some context.

Labour last held Radonshire in 1974 (Marxist Britain era), and never held neighbouring Montgomeryshire, they are typical upper middle class shires. LibDems have this seat as a strong hold at the best of times. Their majority should be higher, much higher... This is no loss to Labour.

Shameful opinion reporting as it's a professor must be the BBC...

Ahh because he isn’t saying the facts you want he isn’t an expert. His comments couldn’t possibly be a reflection on Wales as a whole and not just this one election? Course not.

Dear me, look at the history of MPs in Brecon and Radonshire, there is no course not, either WuMs or foolish echo chambering. Not even Blair in all his pomp could get sniff in these parts, thats fact. Not opinion..

Said weeks LibDems will win this, the worry for any hardliners of remain, is why it's not bigger Majority, this was an open goal...

Wasn't there a Welsh university professor, who said a Corbyn led Labour party would get annihilated in Wales at the 2017 election. But this happened.

General Election 2017: Labour hails 'fantastic' results
  • 9 June 2017

A map showing the election results in 2015 and 2017

Labour has hailed a "fantastic" result in the general election in Wales after taking back Gower, Cardiff North and Vale of Clwyd from the Tories.
They also fought off fierce Tory battles for Bridgend and Wrexham, winning 28 seats, three more than 2015.
The results represent a huge blow to the Tories who had hoped to make big gains across Wales in the snap election ahead of Brexit negotiations.
Plaid Cymru won four seats but the Liberal Democrats lost their only MP.
The results for the 40 seats in Wales in a bar graph

captionThe results for the 40 seats in Wales
Across the UK, the Tories won 318 seats, Labour 262, the SNP 35 and the Lib Dems 12. It means no single party has the 326 seats required to form a majority government".

Yet further example of the art of propaganda against a Corbyn led Labour party that never materialised. The anti Corbyn brigade will stop at nothing to try and undermine/tell lies/have dubious polls etc.

Don’t be surprised by the Tory resurgence in Wales, Labour has been in decline for decades
Labour must resonate with the call centre workers of Swansea, just like it once did with the coal miners of Tredegar

Class based support for Labour has weakened across the UK

Class based support for Labour has weakened across the UK ( Rex )
Along with Daffodils and rugby, supporting the Labour Partyhas often been a stereotype attributed to Wales, particularly along its southern M4 corridor. A recent general election poll giving the Tories a 10 point lead over Labour in Wales came as somewhat of a surprise to many".

Dear me, again the blokes talking about Wales as a whole, (even wrote about it here - https://www.newstatesman.com/politi...y-long-dominance-welsh-politics-be-coming-end) but instead you decided he meant in this one circumstance as it fitted with your view a bit better.

Do you actually have any opinions of your own or is everything just a cut and paste from another website?

Same posting pattern as a banned poster on here.

Does coming 4th not worry you a bit though?

In a seat last held in mid 70s at the height of Marxism... Not a bit. Given the circumstances of the byelection are you not worried that majority is not bigger, such open goals of false expenses will not be common.

Ignoring the last election where Labour increased it majorities, you and and the educated fool are entirely correct. Yodel a hee hoo!

Apart from he’s talking about a poll that happened a few weeks ago. Not what happened 2 years ago. The Brexit Party has taken Labour leave voters and left it in a worse position.

It was my understanding that it was an administrative mistake rather than a willful attempt to swindle anything. There have been far worse instances of expenses fraud.

Oh yes the polls which predicted that historic win for the Welsh Conservatives in the last election, Yodel Lay Hee!

It was a honest mistake Guv... More like an employee watched what happened to similar misplaced expense case recently, and decided to report. Far worse in Peterborough, yet Labour hold... Your over egging the political pudding somewhat with lack of perspective...

It was a bad result, though then again the last time they finished higher than third in that seat was 1985 and the swing against appears a lot worse than it probably was because of the success in 2017 (in 2015 Labour got 5904, in 2010 they got 4096 and in 2005 5775).

‘Projecting parliamentary seat outcomes from polling numbers during such a period of historic turbulence in party support is a very hazardous business. The normal method for generating seat projections – uniform national swings since the last general election – should therefore be interpreted with even greater caution than normal. In a five-cornered general election fight, of the kind indicated by our new poll, all sorts of peculiar localised dynamics might develop in different constituencies. But, for what it is worth, these are the seat projections that are generated from the results of the new poll:

Labour: 18 seats

Conservatives: 16 seats

Plaid Cymru: 4 seats

Liberal Democrats: 2 seats’

I see you struggle to read. The point he is making that Labour don’t have the same level of support that it did years ago. Pretend you know better all you want pal, but it seems the wheels are coming off, no matter how hard you want to yodel into Corbyns ring piece or whatever that’s about.
