There is a question about public interest though. Swigging a can of Mohito I am not sure is worth pursuing much further than a caution (for any politician). Would seem a waste of my taxes any further (and in truth a far worse moral offence).
She has apologised, acknowledged a mistake that ought to be it done.
The law is there to be followed, how we define "pursued" is open though isn't it?
There are about a million and one laws in the Uk, a politician not following the odd tiny one is far of no real consequence.
That being said, some of the laws that were broken around foreign invasions from Cameron/Blair really ought to be acted upon a bit more.
My point really is that when some pillock is getting drunk swigging a whisky bottle on the underground, he can no longer be prosecuted. He can just do exactly what Abbott did, apologise on Twitter, and it all goes away. Otherwise it’s one rule for one and another for the rest of us......
