She means she’s sorry sad sacks like you care

I don’t care. She could have been swigging from a bottle of scotch as far as I’m concerned. However, what is the point of a law, however stupid, if the shadow Home Secretary just ignores it...... I now assume that anybody else caught drinking on the underground will just apologise on twitter and use the shadow Home Secretary Defence in court.......meanwhile us sad sacks just keep obeying the law.......

In fact, now it’s accepted that it’s not breaking the law and will not be pursued, it may as well be removed.....

Problem for me with this isn't the silly tart got collared but the deal being made out of it. It's like the inquisition getting hold of the Cathars. There's much more crap to be highlighting than an amateur paraffin on the 5.15.
I get the law/ her position and I think she should be held accountable but compared to selling arms to the Saudis, renting out 2nd homes, sex pests etc a bit of context needs applying.

Totally agree. But when this person may well be the next Home Secretary, it just beggars belief. What next from her, rolling a joint......

It depends what you mean by "wealth distribution" there - if we are talking about increasing the minimum wage / some kind of UBI then they won't get past a first term and the country will probably go into recession.

If on the other hand they turn away from direct measures and look to thinks like building hundreds of thousands of new homes, ending zero hours / subcontracting and vastly improving public transport links then they will probably keep the Tories out for at least as long as Blair did.

The length and ability to achieve office depends on how much of the myth that 'not carrying out brexit is the cause of the continuous austerity' can be dispelled.
The right are using that argument and it lets the last 9 years slip quietly into history as a non event.

There is a question about public interest though. Swigging a can of Mohito I am not sure is worth pursuing much further than a caution (for any politician). Would seem a waste of my taxes any further (and in truth a far worse moral offence).

She has apologised, acknowledged a mistake that ought to be it done.

The law is there to be followed, how we define "pursued" is open though isn't it?

There are about a million and one laws in the Uk, a politician not following the odd tiny one is far of no real consequence.

That being said, some of the laws that were broken around foreign invasions from Cameron/Blair really ought to be acted upon a bit more.

Absolutely not, but she freely admits she was a member of ISIS and also seems very unrepentant about it as well. I feel that the moment she joined ISIS, that is the point at which she should have had her citizenship revoked and as a consequence not be receiving any sort of aid.

Actually sitting in a refugee camp in war zone does not conjure up a freely admitting mind, I would be minded to say anything that keeps me safe... And besides she was a child when she went. And holding her responsible for that decision at that age may have serious consequences for others who make decisions as a child and takes them into adulthood, I'm thinking of child abuse victims.

Minimum wage living wage are crumbs from the table. Start with housing, first do away with practice of housing basically being places to stash enormous amounts of cash. Couple of ways this will be achieved.
Public transport, cant see this being an issue, something that has started in Wales for some time with free bus transport for all at weekends. Infrastructure needs public money it's clear that private sector will not fill in...
Certainly a reduction in zero hours and abuse, however, they have suited my circumstances and surley suit some people now.

You clearly do care. But yet seem less bothered about people like Gove and Johnson breaking electoral laws. And it's never been breaking the law, it's just banned by TfL so I'd really like to know what you're so upset about.

It's not how it works though, and it's odd that you want to maintain Britishness by stripping away fundamental parts of British law from British citizens.

To be clear YES I would deny those rights to British citizens who have joined ISIS, they should have their citizenship revoked as soon as they join.
At no point have I advocated the stripping away of anyone's rights apart from terrorists. I'm not sure I can be much more clearer than that.

You can’t pick and choose. They are not rights and they mean nothing if you do.

I would add to the pot that 'ex pats' living in Marbella or Zakynthos or wherever, usually opening an Irish bar, should have their right to vote in UK elections stripped. Don't know if they are allowed to vote in Spanish or Greek elections but there you go. The clue is in 'ex'. ;)
